Motorcycle.com Forum App

Hey Guys,

Here's the deal. I'm part of the Ninja 300 forums, and that forum is part of the forums listed in the Motorcycle.com app which is a forum app like this forum's app. Recently, my LG Motion died, and when I got my S3, and downloaded the app again, I had no clue they pushed an update, and now the whole layout is totally different and complete garbage to me.

The old version was set up EXACTLY like the app for the Android Forums, super easy to navigate, and a great looking app all around. My question is, if ANYONE here is part of that forum, and uses the app, and happens to still have the OLD VERSION. PLEASE....PLEASE....PLEASE...SUPER PLEASE....PRETTY PLEASE....PLEEEAAASSSEEEEEEE, try to find a way to pull the .apk off your phone, and PM me a link to it. Dropbox it or something PLEASE!!!. I really want the oud version again which is exactly how the app for this forum looks. You can even download the Motorcycle.com app, and see exactly what I mean how this layout is much better than their new " UPGRADED " app.

I would totally be very thankful for whoever can do this for me. If my Motion didn't die, and I knew this was going to happen, I would of backed up the damn app my self.

Thanks!

Have you considered emailing the admin on that forum for an older version of the app?

Indeed, yup, sure did, had a long talk with him, he claims they don't have a copy of the old .apk which honestly is extremely hard to believe, and told me people suggested it app to look like TapaTalk or something, but I told him it would of been nice for this to be a thread for people to discuss because you claim people sent suggestions but it must of been all via PM, or emails.
All I know is, if I was a developer for an app, and I did an update, I would 100% definitely still have the old .apk especially when the old version wasn't broken, and it was simply an update.

That is why I figured I would post here as there could be someone who uses it, and hasn't updated it yet.

I slid this over to the Android Apps forum as it is essentially a discussion of the differences between Tapatalk 2 and Tapatalk 4.:)

OP, I prefered the old layout of Tapatalk too. That is the layout our current forum app uses and what I surmise your ninjaforum site used as well. Once I got past my stubbornness in using the updated version (I use both the AF forum app and the market version of TT) I have found my distaste has gradually given way to actually liking the new version. Sometimes, I still prefer the way things looked in the old version, but alas, that is life.

I will mention a that the new version of Tapatalk that is underlying the forum app you are using has also addressed many issues beyond just aesthetics. Including security issues, better authentication, and some things that make life easier for staff members.

As far as your Admin not having an apk, I'm not at all surprised. It is really just a skinned version of Tapatalk that is limited to connecting to a certain forum. The TT dev is unlikely to allow random apk's to be floating around.

Finally, you could try other forum apps. I have used ForumRunner in the past, and there are parts of that app I like better than both the old and new versions of TT. I would check with your site admin to see if it is compatible first, as it will cost a dollar or two.

Phew! I got worried for a second, as I was on my phone, and I went into the Lounge, and didn't see the thread, lol. My apologies, I did not see this section because I'm a schmuck :D.

Oh, I did not know the old layout was TapaTalk as well. So then, that means they switched to 4, and AF is using 2. I really liked 2's layout. It's just hard to believe they would change it THAT much. I love having the Latest, Forums, Favorites, PM, and More buttons at the top, and if you've seen TT4 4, it's like...GAH! I guess It's harder for me because I'm just not used to it at all. Just seems weird to me because my brain is so used to the layout of TT2. I mean, honestly it still seems better to me than the new layout, and I REALLY tried to REALLY give it a shot, but it just seems so different to me. It's honestly like TT4 should really look like TT2, and TT2 should of been what it looks like now.

I wish they could of still worked out the security issues, better authentication and still kept the same layout. As far as those other forum apps. Are any of them laid out the way I'm looking for? I figured you would know and save me the time of looking, but I guess I could go ahead and pull them up, and look at the screenshots, and I'll go ahead and ask if it's compatible.

Thanks for your reply.

I emailed TapaTalk and they hooked it up with the .apk of the old version. Im super happy!

LOL, I can't count the number of times I have told folks to email the dev and see what happens as they are usually good guys. I didn't here because normally on their forums they won't offer previous versions.

I'm glad they came through for you.
