Root [T-Mobile] Restoring Nandroid: Files not found

I'm trying to restore a nandroid backup from my external SD card and have run into some problems. I'm using Philz Touch recovery; went to restore my backup and it said "No files found" when I tapped it. So I created a new nandroid backup to see where the files might be located, and the new nandroid backup is located in the exact same place that the old one was (on the External SD card under ClockworkRecovery/backup). There's a Clockwork backup directory on my Galaxy S4's internal storage, but there are no backup files there.

Any ideas on how to restore the backup?

in your file explorer, when you check "properties" of the backup files, do they look the right kinda size?
Maybe try copying the backup file to the clockwork/backup folder in internal storage and try to restore it from there
Yeah the backup files are 7.3GB so it looks like that's the one. Unfortunately my phone only has 6.41GB after a factory reset, I'm guessing because a lot of stuff was auto-restored. What all should I generally clear out to retain the space so I can move the files and then do a nandroid restore?

the nandroid will still be compatible but i remember people having problems restoring backups on android 4.3 or 4.4, cant remember, until they updated the recovery.
To update philz, just find the most up to date version in flashable .zip format and flash it in recovery then reboot recovery.
Can i ask why you have to restore nandroid, what rom are you on now?

I sent my phone off for a manufacturer repair (which didn't pan out); I have it back now and wanted to restore my phone to the state it was before I sent it off, root included.

Tbh i dont know bro. I can give you a link for the latest supersu update zip if you want, that should give you root

I wonder would that cause any problems if my system status is already custom? I guess I don't technically have root but I do have a custom recovery. If I did flash the SuperSU root in the recovery, should I use the multi-flash option and then flash the latest Philz touch recovery after that? Or reboot and then go back into recovery and flash the latest one?

In any case I'll do the whole thing tomorrow since it's late now and I don't want to mess with a bunch of stuff half-awake. Thanks for your help so far and any more you can provide in the future.

Alright I'm back.

I contacted the Philz Touch developer and he directed me to this FAQ entry. If I'm understanding correctly, the files have to be put in that directory? The Nandroid backup is still larger than my internal storage though. So think I should still go with your plan or try a factory reset and try and move my external nandroid backup to that directory?
