Hey guys,

Just wanna get some stuff straight between Evo and Incredible. How much better is EVO than Incredible?

EVO: 720p video recording, 1G rom (Bigger faster? Newbie here XD), 4.3" TFT(Let just stick to the spec that's said by most people....I am not gonna argue if it's gonna be AMOLED or whatever.....), 4G, HDMI output

Incredible: 480p video recording, 512M rom, 3.7" AMOLED, micro USB output

iPhone 4G HD Vs Droid Incredible Vs HTC EVO 4G Vs Nexus One | Gadgets DNA

For the minimal monthly cost, just in general, EVO could be around $70/mon. Incredible would be $75/month. (individual plan: 450minutes/month, plus data and 250 text)



In fact, I don't really see any big difference here, in my case. The feature I use a lot is the camera, which they both have 8M. Don't take me wrong here, I like EVO and am waiting for pre-ordering it. But today, I sat in front of my computer and pondered why I went for EVO at the first place? I'm totally confused here. Could somebody help me out?

BTW is there a maximum data usage per month for Verizon? I heard that sprint is unlimited for real.

Why you want the EVO: Best spec'd phone on the market as soon as it launches.

Why you want Sprint: Generally good coverage, plans significantly cheaper than Sprint. I don't see how you get only $75 a month with the Incredible, unless you get a discount or something, either way, the plans don't compare, not to mention free 4G (for now at least).

With Sprint you get unlimited texting for $70, as well as free mobile-to-mobile, so you'll essentially not even use most of your minutes unless you call landlines a lot.

Maximum data usage for Sprint is 5 gig a month if you tether, but if you are in a 4G area, it will be unlimited.

I think Verizon has 5GB per month and using 3G / sprint has unlimited 4G connection. I'd be going with the Evo simply because of tethering options in 4G. Other than that, it's up to you whether you like great color repoduction, but hard to see under the son, or bigger screen, still readable out doors but not as good reproduction. All other specs would be the same so it's what you really like or the one that suited for you that would matter.

It's the possibilities that confused me which one I should buy XDD

The best thing the Inc has going for it though is you can get it now and now have to wait a month and a half. To some that's a big deal, and I understand. But from a phone to phone comparison, the Evo is king

Like someone mentioned, compare apples to apples (or Androids to Androids). Fire up Verizon's website and find me a plan with:

~450 minutes
free after 7pm
free weekends
unlimited text (you use it a lot on these kinds of phones)
unlimited data
free commercial turn-by-turn navigation

Quite a few of those things are add-ons with Verizon and will rack up quite a bill. Even just saving $20-30 per month is no small change. $240-360 per year is a good deal of cash and would pay for a subsidized phone and maybe even an accessory or two.

Oh yeah, also when you get one of these plans on Sprint you become a Premier member so you get upgrade discounts after one year instead of two Sorry if I sound like a fanboy but I would leave in a second if someone offered a better deal. I just haven't found it yet.

Just curious, If I order EVO online, would I have one month for testing the reception out? Don't wanna buy a phone with poor reception for 2 years XDD I am a fanboy here too! fanboy for high tech LOL

I'm currently with Verizon and eligible for my upgrade to the Incredible and I'll tell you why I am not going with Verizon or the incredible and why I am going with Sprint and the EVO.

1. Better Specs: Phones will most likely be similarly priced. Based on that why not go with the EVO which has AS GOOD or BETTER specs than the Incredible on everything except for maybe the screen?

Based on the specs that I've seen the EVO has the following that the Incredible doesn't: 4.3" screen (which to me is the deal maker, the size of that bad boy is just awesome, especially for what I want it for), 720 HD recording for video, HDMI out to my plasma big screen if I want it, 1GB of ROM, kickstand for viewing, and a front facing camera. Now am I going to use all of that stuff? Doubtful, but why not get more for my money, which leads to plans...

2. Plans: You are trying to compare Verizon's 450 Nationwide with Sprints "450" nationwide, which is comparing Oranges to Peanut Butter.

On Sprints plan for $69.99 you get - UNLIMITED calls to any mobile phone regardless of carrier. UNLIMITED texts to any mobile phone. UNLIMITED data on the 3G and possibly 4G depending on location and pricing, and 450 total minutes to landlines.

On Verizon you don't get anything remotely close to that. You get a TOTAL of 450 minutes to landlines and any OTHER mobile phone besides a Verizon network phone. 450 minutes TOTAL. Also if you want unlimited texts it is $20, unlimited Data is another $30. The costs add up. For me to get similar plans the difference in going with Sprint is actually going to be around $60 a month that I will be SAVING. That is major to me, especially when you look at it over a 2 year period of time. (Almost $1,500). I think Verizon is going to have to lower their plan price at some point, but we'll see.

For me as a loyal Verizon customer, it is no longer worth it to stay with them when Sprint is offering the plans and phones they are.

Just my opinion though. I'm pretty excited for the EVO. I have no complaints about Verizon other than their prices, but onward and upward.

You'll be leaving Verizon's superior 3g coverage for Sprint's superior 4g cover-Oh wait! Verizon doesn't have 4G and won't for at least another year so!

I too am a Verizon customer who's overdue for an upgrade (LG Dare). I just got back from Best Buy where I saw a demo Incredible. While I'm still leaning towards waiting for the EVO and switching to Sprint, the Incredible was extremely impressive. If the EVO wasn't coming or I was unable to switch away from Verzion, I can't say I'd be very disappointed.

However, I am still waiting for the EVO. The big specs for me are the wifi router and the front-facing camera. I don't live in a 4G area, and it's not even on the roadmap.

Bottom line, you have to test it to like it. I have great service with Sprint, I have a good plan(s) being that i have 4 phones and a datacard, one on sero and the other with Everything Plus. Customer service has never been a problem with me and compared with other carriers service, plans nothing beats Sprint, but all that mean nothing if
1-the phone does not work for you in your area.
2-The phone doesn't feel right in your hands

Which is why I recommend to everyone to test it out first. Sprint has an excellent 30 back guarantee. If the phone doesn't work for you in your area then go for the next best carrier with their phone, be it the Incredible, the iPhone, the Nexus, the Galaxy or whatever phone you choose to go with.

Like the say in the Indiana Jones movies, choose but choose wisely.

PhoneArena has an excellent web page where you can compare the EVO to any other phone by size. I took the results by comparing the iPhone 3G, the EVO 4g, the Incredible and the Sprint Hero. When you see them side-by-side, it really does give you some perspective.

I didn't do anything to resize the phones, I just captured the image generated by PhoneArena, then I moved the phones closer together so they'd fit on this page.

When you look at these images, the EVO looks huge and it might give you the impression that the EVO is too big.

When you look at this photo put out by CNET, it doesn't look so huge. Still, there's no doubt when compared to other phones, the screen size is much bigger. The difference is, the bezel is much smaller to make up for the larger screen. Over all, there's not that much of a difference in the actual sizes of the phones.

I made the argument a couple of days ago in the Official EVO 4G thread, that the width of the Incredible is about the same as the Hero. When I used the comparison tool, the width is actually a little narrower that the iPhone. The difference is, the Incredible is longer than the iPhone and has a smaller bezel to get the 3.7" screen.

One of the many reasons I would choose the EVO over the Incredible is the screen size. The width would make the EVO much more comfortable to use in comparison. I like the Hero, but the screen is too small. When you consider that the home screens on Sense UI only work in portrait mode, you realize a lot of typing will be done in portrait and the keyboard is too small to be accurate when you type. That's one area where the EVO has it all over the Incredible.
