This is getting on my nerves!
When scrolling I am accidentally starting the 'google search' by mistake.
Is there a way to stop the 'google search' when pressing the 'homescreen' button?
I don't believe so, unless one of the 3rd party launchers will do that; Holo launcher and Nova launcher are two of the more popular. The home button opening up Google Now will take getting used to. I'm running Ice Cream Sandwich still on my LG Motion.

I am guessing that you are actually swiping up on the button and that is making it launch. That is the behavior on the Droid Maxx and I assume in the Moto G (I can't test it for you). The answer is to not swipe up. It taks a little getting used to.

Yes, I'm swiping up.
What a stupid design.
I already have a 'google search' box at the top of my homescreen, why do I need another way to do a 'google search'?
I use Nova Launcher Prime and I define it as the best software find I had in 2013. It changes how you look at your device and you can do ALMOST anything your way.
There is no way I know of to stop this behavior using Nova Launcher Prime at this time. With a couple minutes practice it was no longer a problem for me.
I'd still recommend Nova Launcher Prime. (You can remove the idiotic search box on every home screen.)

I can confirm that Apex Launcher Pro has also not been updated yet to override this 'feature' of Kit Kat. I imagine Apex and Nova will eventually both address this.
I'd say just learn not to swipe up? Not trying to be cynical, but it works for me. I'm running the Google Experience launcher (a la Nexus 5) on my G2 and it's not a problem. On my Moto G, not a problem either. I like the motion since it was implemented in 4.2, Jelly Bean.
Are you tapping or swiping? Swiping is a setting that I believe can be reset with something that is more a more deliberate motion since the phone I think has gesture recognition built in . Try looking at some of your options .
