I have decided on creating a quick and easy root guide since i don't already see one and because a few people are still struggling to find one!
*This does not require a PC!

F6 Root

TowelRoot By GeoHot
*Thanks to inarimi for notifying me about this method and thanks to the creator Geohot

Touch λ for the download
Hit make it ra1n
download SuperSU from the play store
and... you are rooted!

Recovery

Install the new TWRP recovery apk made by hroark13. And boot into Recovery using Gametheory's app in the playstore

*Having Trouble? head on over to Gametheory's site for another set of recovery and rooting instructions

GameTheory's Rooting guide

Well then thank you sir for making root easy. Now i just need to know how to procede with making back up so i can mess with things. Any suggestions?

I wish i can say i created this root lol but it's the safe root method.. Install this, LTE Recovery , Open the app, Hit recovery apply and then the Reboot button.. You should now boot into Recovery. Go ahead and make a back up, i recommend backing up to your external Sd Card.

I've rooted, set up recovery, and set up Wi-Fi hotspot. But when my play store was saying insufficient storage, I decided to do the sd card fuse.

I followed the directions to a tee, and i got this.

yju3y2e5.jpg

Duplicate photos, and i suspect every other kind of file, on both internal and external sd cards. And I'm still getting this

Also when i decided to delete the pictures from internal, so i didn't havetwo of each, it also deleted from external and i lost my pictures.

I never formatted my sdcard when i bought it and don't know what file system it is using. Any ideas, if i cam do this mangy phone will be complete.

You are using the script correctly but you downloaded the old version that has duplicate files, the new version can be downloaded through the app2External_sd guide here, http://androidforums.com/tmobile-optimus-f6-all-things-root/791998-mod-app2external_sd-fixed-duplicate-files.html , This one fixes the duplicate files, just start from step 7.

Thanks for this, can you also add a short guide for installing the best/latest recovery for the phone? Since root and recovery usually go hand-in-hand. I believe it would simply just be flashing LTE recovery then CWM by pressy4pie?

It's just an app that does everything for you... Why on earth would you need a guide for that? Did you even read his thread. LTE has no Loki do some research on what that is.

I don't need a guide, since I'm not rooted and don't plan to, seeing as there are very few benefits at the moment. But, I'm sure some people would love to see more information compacted. This is probably the most unorganized device forum I've been to and I've messed with quite a few devices. All I'm saying every root thread usually comes with recovery instructions too.

Hi guys, I rooted it last night and works fine, but one thing that caught my attention is that the battery discharges a bit faster than before the root, and also like in the morning I felt that it was over heating, any of you guys have the similar problem??

Strange, I havent noticed any change in battery life

I guess I am a little paranoic, since I upgrade from the LG motion to this phone, the battery on the motion after installing Cyanogenmod was kinda bad, but as it is right now, I have like 64% left, and the use I put up is moderate, between calls and texts from coworkers (part of maintenance staff) and going thru social apps, I guess that means no problem in the battery, and that was my mind playing some weird games....

Hello all, i am a new android owner, and i am new to this rooting stuff, and i could use any help that can be given. Firstly, i wanted to check which version of the firmware i have on my MPCS F6 in order to make sure that this root will work on my phone, and that i wont end up bricking my phone or ending up in a bootloop. However, i followed the directions listed above to check firmware version, and i found nothing specifying which firmware version i had. Under the Software Information setting in my phone, this is what i found.
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: M8930B-AAAATAZM-3.2.25033
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Build number: JZO54K
Software version: MS50010i

Is it possible for me to gain root access on this phone with this method? OK, so if i do decide to go ahead and try this method, from what i understand from the simple instructions above, all i do to root the phone is run the batch file that i unzipped from the download, and do what it tells me? Is there anything else i need to do after that? Will the phone still be activated under the same MPCS plan that i have now, or will i need to reactivate it? Do i still have the same OS, or do i need to "flash a ROM" (i think i know what that means... maybe...) on my phone?

Also, if i wanted to have a mobile hotspot after i root, do i use the method posted in the link by Trevor Phillips above? Will i need to pay MPCS for this service or not? How successful has the above method been as to getting people a mobile hotspot on their phone? If it is a successful method, can someone please walk me through how to set that up, as dumbed down as possible? I'm not sure I understand the directions on that thread.

Thank you for any help you can give me, I am very grateful.

Software version: MS50010i, the i is the version that you have, this will not effect your phone service, all this does is root your phone, simple as that
