This is a beta release of AOKP for the Optimus Elite so please don't expect this to be 100% stable. You may get random reboots and lockups or you may not. Before flashing this rom I recommend you make a NAND backup just in case.

About: (taken from the aokp website.)

What is AOKP?

AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.

What works:

  • Audio/speaker phone
  • Headset/headphones
  • Calls and texts
  • Touchscreen
  • Lights/brightness
  • Offline charging
  • External SD
  • Wifi
  • Proximity sensor
  • Overclocking
  • Tethering using an app called "Wifi Tether for Root Users" from the play store with the settings used in F.A.Q below.
  • Mass storage
  • Camera
  • Bluetooth

What's partially working:

  • Data (stuck on 1x but get 3g speeds.)
  • NFC ( NFC tags and google wallet are non functional.)
What's not working:

  • You tell me
Issues:

  • you may have random reboots or lock ups or you may not.
  • Google Wallet doesn't work and opening it causes nfc to not work until you do a reboot. Will fix this soon.
  • There may be some graphic issues on apps such as Google Maps.
  • During booting up the screen will be blank but will turn on when finished.

Installation instructions:

To install this rom you must first have a custom recovery installed onto your phone.
You can learn how to do this here " http://androidforums.com/elite-all-things-root/620742-faq-guide-clockworkmod-optimus-elite.html"

  • 1. Download the appropriate rom for your phone and then Gapps. (Gapps is needed if you need to use google services such as Google Play.)
  • 2. You need to copy the downloaded rom and Gapps to your internal memory or your external memory.
  • 3. Boot into recovery.
  • 4. If you are coming from a Gingerbread rom you need to do a full wipe. (cache, davlik cache, data, and system.) If you are coming from an other ICS rom e.g CM9 then you just need to wipe cache and davlik cache.
  • 5. Select install zip from where ever you put the files onto. So if you put it on the external sd card you would pick "Install from SD Card".
  • 6. Install in the following order. "Rom and then Gapps"
  • 7. Reboot.
Please note that the first install will take some time ( About 3 to 5 minutes.)

F.A.Q

Q. What settings do I use to get tethering to work?
A.
Device-Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Change Setup-Method: WEXT (ad-hoc)
MSS clamping checked
Routing fix checked

This verison seems good for me.. hasnt crashed. seems faster then 4.1, anyway, thanks phenomix, The Camra App keeps disappering so i installed anohter camra app.. I used CPU Tuner From goole Play seems to work nicely, dont know how battery life is , but i will by tomaroow. Looking good tho, I find that with any rom andoird 4.0 and above on this device wants a 500MHZ boost ... Without that 500MHZ overclock it is a slow pain somtimes. GOOGLE MAPS WORK NOW im happy BTW DELTE GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES it is a hog, and will saveu battery and perfomance

I get "Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped" at boot and each time I enter most apps. Same thing with Google Voice, contacts, email, ect. They all force close.

It makes the rom unusable. Any idea what causes this issue?

This problem has to do with the Contacts.apk and the ContactsProvider.apk. Try copying these from another ROM, i.e., AOKP 4.1.2 and replace the existing Contacts.apk and ContactcProvider.apk in the /system/app directory of your phone.

Doing that has fixed the problem for me in the past when going from one ROM to another and getting this error.

Did you do a full wipe.. Dalivk. cache, everyhting.. Delete any apps you down want. Via Titanum Backup. set phone for good battey then install apps. install cpu tuner/facebook./anyhting uwant then reboot. wipe dalvik again and cache also fix permission.. reboot. let it sit for 2.3 mins. then.. slowly open every app. then download overclock and set it at high performance 1500 mhz lower your brightness to low .. Then Buy 2 batterys.. then charge one and keep one and never have to charge your phone.. then????

profit???

Okay here is 2 particular bugs I found in this build. Whenever I go to change USB Connection in the Storage Menu, the settings crashes. Also, SD card shows as mounted and even shows used/free space but nothing else. When I use a file manager, or an app that requests the SD directory, it complains like the SD isn't mounted so I cannot see the files. Tried two different SD cards, and formatted both.

Phenomx4, great job on getting 4.2.2 working the Elite.

Both SDcards are working fine for me and the reason the settings crash when trying to change the USB connection settings is because we don't have mtp or ptp support.

Just getting ready to take on 4.4.

Nice.
Wish I had the knowledge to do this stuff, it has to be quite fulfilling.

I know this isnt the right place to ask but I have a Garminfone and notice a few years back, people tried to create a mod for it but doing so will loose the garmin function which is the best feature of the phone.

Be nice to have jellybean on it with the garmin intact, is that ever even possible?

I wouldn't know since I don't have the phone. What was the reason why it couldn't stay on with other versions of android?

Garmin and Asus made the phone and from what I understand, no one liked the cell and the makers parted ways, and developers such as yourself attempted to flash newer OS's on it but could not figure out how to keep the garmin intact.
I read they tried to contact Asus and Garmin for even a hint or w/e but no one would help them.

It only has the gingerbread 2.1 on it.

I like it because the garmin works w/o a data plan and still has lifetime free map updates, plus I got it free.
Basically, its a Garmin with a phone.

I use it as a garmin because it came with the windowshield bracket/car charger hook up, which doesn't affect the ability to then hook it directly to my radio via 3.5 mm plug, to stream my music/video files through my radio.

Do new androids have satellite access like garmins and tom toms have?
I assume they do not and need a data plan to use the map function.

All Android phones should have the ability to use GPS without having data but you need to use a offline map/navigation app. I tried this myself without service.
