Can you download paid apk files?

I'd first off like to state that this is NOT for any piracy reasons.
I just like to have an archive of the software I own, especially if I've paid for it, for numerous reasons;

1. Keep software safe from BAD updates (sometimes devs remove features, or release buggy releases, well I want it exactly as I paid for it)

2. Perhaps I'd like to transfer to a device with no internet connection (Can't see this happening any time soon, but certainly has been needed in the past, so hey.)

3. Removal of apps, if perhaps an app is removed, then I'll never be able to get it back if I was to factory reset.

4. Because (I'm pretty sure,) we're entitled to it! I'm not withheld from keeping the installation discs for my windows software, why should this be any different on android. We don't need babysitting by google ALL the time.


So is there any way to do this?

There are apps out there that allow you to make a backup of apps with data intact on your phone. It stores it in a folder which can be transferred to a pc for safe keeping. Titanium backup is a popular app in the rooting community because flashing custom roms requires wiping the device.

I haven't tried Helium. App backup and restore works great for saving files to apk and keeping track of what you backed up and when. Works great when an updated program doesn't work quite the way its supposed to

I use Android Assistant to back up paid and free apps (just the apk file, not the settings) to my internal storage, then DropSync moves them to my DropBox account to keep the backups from taking up too much room.

I have DropBox on all of my devices, so I can install apk files directly from my DropBox account without having to move apk files physically over to a device.

You do need to at least have a WiFi connection in order to keep DropBox synced with each device.

I use Appmonster pro found here on play:

It can make up to 5 version backups of your apk files. I have rolled back a number of bad updates with it.

No reason why not.

Paid apps aren't marked in any special way.

Validation is provided either via the store, a key sent to you by the dev (save any emails on those) or by installing a validation app or extension.

Otherwise, app files are just that regardless of what's inside.

Btw - policy is that you can reload any paid app from the store and not have to pay again. Other systems out there associate apps with devices - Android paid apps are associated with your Gmail address. Big difference.

If you have to reset your device, make sure you sign back into your Google account then all apps both paid and free will be restored automatically.

Ok. So I tried the app and it did download my paid apps, but not the apk files. Just the link, which isn't what I was talking about.

App Monster's restore of paid apps option is only "Restore From Play Store"

where free apps have an additional option "Restore From SD"

It does not save you from paid apps that have crapped out with new "updates"
