S2 not connecting to WIFI or 3G network, cannot reset.

Hi all, first post here so forgive me if i breech any etiquette. have googled pretty thoroughly and havnt found anything too helpful so this is somewhat of a last resort before i return my phone to the place i bought it.

Despite showing that it can connect to both wifi and my service providers 3g network with strong signal in network settings, there seems to be no internet connection what so ever. none of my internet based applications can connect at all and i cannot factory reset the phone because it cannot connect to verify my samsung or google account.

has anyone had a similar issue and is there anything i can do to solve this problem?

any help much appreciated.
