So I've been hearing a lot about this Flappy Bird game and how crazy hard it is, so I checked it out and played it myself. It is quite hard, but I don't get why it's so popular. Can anyone explain it to me? I'm pretty sure I've played some hard games like it. Is it because it's so hard to get a good score?

It's painfully addictive yet so simplistic, and doesn't take up much space (less than 1mb). It's everything a mobile game should be and that's why it's so popular.

It's the same formula as temple run, just allot simpler.

Anyway I played it for about a minute scored 4 and uninstalled, I just found it really annoying and gave it 1 star.

I can't imagine people keeping this one installed for very long.

I downloaded it because it was all the craze as of late, and it is very hard. I can't say it's something deserving of so much praise or hate though.

And the dev is apparently going to pull it (Flappy Bird Creator To Take Game Down Tomorrow - IGN)

Yeah I read about that earlier today, sounds like he's not too happy about the popularity it has garnered over the week. Sad to see him giving up on it.

Well it's hard to hate something that's free to users but the graphics are straight from Mario, with 50 million downloads the ad revenue must be pretty good, considering the artwork is stolen and the gameplay isn't very original it's done amazingly well.

I can imagine allot of clones of this game will be made. :(

I read it was released.

then read it was being pulled from the market..

then read the Vietnamese developer was tired of the crap..
even though he is making $50k a day!!!

then read ebay is selling phones with this game installed for $100K!!!!
Phones with Flappy Bird going for nearly $100,000 on eBay

has the world gone mad????
what has pissed him off??

Hi dan330,

I wanted to let you know that I've merged your Flappy Bird thread into an existing one where discussion is on-going. Let me know if you have any questions :)

On-topic, I'm also baffled why the dev would pull the game, particularly if he was pulling in ~$50k/day for an app he spent 2-3 days making. I need to buy a new car soon; he should have left the game available and just sent me the cash instead ;)

I think he is taking the tweets to seriously!!!!

I would just sit back and laugh.. all the way to the bank!! every day!!!
how can you give up $50k a day???
in Vietnam... that is super crazy money!!!

something is missing from this story.

It's weird that he couldn't take in the money, then again he probably wasn't making the $50K a day, the company he was working for probably was. Not sure why they'd allow him to take it down.

It sickens me that he would get death threats from some people for not being able to beat the game. This world is full of pathetic people who try to hurt someones feelings because they can't achieve something.

Anyways, it sucks that the game is no longer available. I have it on my phone yet, but for those looking to play it, will have to look for clones.

Oh and there was already a game like it called Helicopter, a very old game.
