Issues with the GPE G-Pad

So I ordered myself a GPE last week and it should be here tomorrow or the next day. I was wondering if anyone out there has had any issues that I should be aware of? I've heard of the screen not being bright enough, or something along those lines, and "hiccups" when playing music, or not being able to write to the SD card.

Anyone have any issues they'd like to report or expound upon?

Thanks

You'll probably have problems writing to the SD Card if the content is digitally protected, but,as a rule, that is true w/any device.

As for the skipping,a side-by-side comparison, using another ANDROID device, would be the best way to determine if it indeed is a problem solely w/the GPE edition, whether it's hardware/firmware/software.

As for the brightness issue, that could be a YMMV situation, however,if it is a problem, check this post, right here in the G-PAD forum:

Thanks for your input. I decided to stick to the Nexus 7 as you can't write to the SD card on the G-Pad. I really wanted at least 32gb of storage, and without being able to write to the SD card, I'm basically stuck with a 16gb tablet.

So what is the point of an sd card? It has it for nothing?
Google has removed moving apps to sdcard from all android as of 4.1. You can still put all other media on sd. So if youre looking to install apps to sd you would need 4.0 or earlier, major manufacturers aren't going to be an option.

I don't care about moving apps to it, but you can't even store pictures that you take with the camera on it. It appears that Google basically just tossed the Nexus 7 skin/OS on it without doing anything else. Because you can write to the SD card if you're rooted and make some minor changes at the system level. But I don't want to do that. Just isn't my thing.

Yes You Can !
I have a 32gig card inserted when linked to pc I can create folders and drop all my music and Photos plus movies into them.
I can also do the same from the G Pad create folders on SD using file manager and copy and past to them

I have also just checked my camera and it is set to save to SD card

You can try the App ES File Explorer

there must be something wrong with your SD card ?

Do you have the GPE G-pad? And are you rooted?

Where are you reading that the device can't write to sd? I cant see lg just blindly throwing the n7 os on it , which doesn't have sd, and overlooking that fact. Not saying that you're wrong (just seems unlikely is all) but I would like to read a reputable source.

It cannot natively write to the SD card. This is not native in Android now, and hasn't been since 4.3. I have read a couple of threads on it over at Android Central on the GPE G-Pad, as well as on the GPE S4. It is most definitely true and very unfortunate. It can be turned on via root. And you can also write to it via computer. But no, you cannot natively do it.

I did some reading and, put simply, it has been corrected and the device can in fact write to sd card. It is a permissions issue and as long as the app trying to write to sd has been updated with kitkat sd support it has the correct path to write to sd card.

Where did you read that? Not saying it's wrong, but I'd like to check it out. For example, if you take a picture with the tablet, you cannot save it to the SD. Same thing with Play Music, you can't pin songs to the SD card.

So its not completely resolved, but close! I still wouldn't pay that much for it. I like my 2013 nexus 7. And will get the nexus 8 this summer. If I was to get the g pad I would just get the regular one not the gpe. Just my two cents.
