Root Kii keyboard

You need to open up Kii keyboard app. Directions are there.
I just downloaded and installed to be sure, went to app in app drawer to enable and set as default. Works just fine. Typed this reply with it.
Edit: I like it, might use as my default landscape keyboard if I can get the predictive text to show.

I use Keyboard Manager. Big Buttons keyboard for portrait mode and the keyboard that came with the MiRaGe ROM for landscape mode (unless I can get the predictive text to work on Kii).

My tutorial was on how to get any ROM on the phone. You just have to go to the ROM section and go to the Github where it's listed, or go to Andriod Central where the MiRaGe thread is at to download the ROM.
The 20110828 Gapps are in the link in the Gapps section.

Download them, then let me know. I'll walk you througb. It's so easy you will be wondering why you hadn't done it earlier.

OK, thanks, i'll track them down and read and then ask if I get stuck, which I likely will, LOL!!

oh, will my current recovery work with mirage? it is VM670NH, I don't remember the name...bob zhome? or maybe that's different...

OK, found the links to the downloads. Questions...will Link2sd still work well with mirage? can i use LeslieAnn's "prep for new rom" application that wipes the phone in prep for flashing a rom?

Can't think of anything else right now... Thanks!

The BobZohme modified ClockworkMod recovery that you have is the best for the V and all Gingerbread and above ROMs.
The up/down volume buttons scroll and the camera button is used to select.
Links to Leslie Ann's wipers are broke. Here is a link to obiejohns wiper zip that works better (His link is broke as well, but I uploaded my copy to Mediafire): http://www.mediafire.com/?9lw9aehjnd767j9. Flash it before you flash the ROM and Gapps.

Put update_wiper.zip, MiRaGe ROM, and Gapps on SD card.
Backup all apps with Titanium Backup and RootUninstaller (the one with the round yellow icon with blue RU and red pro underneath).

Go to recovery and select:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache (advanced section). When done hit the back button.
Now go to the mounts and storage section and make sure all partitions are unmounted. If any say "unmount" select.
Now drop down and select to format:
boot
cache
data
sd ext
system
Do not format SD card.
When done back out and go to "install zip from sd card" option. Choose the "choose zip from sdcard" option.
Select the update wiper first. When done choose the "choose zip from sd card" option again. Select the MiRaGe ROM. When done choose the "choose zip from sdcard" option one more time. Select the 20110828 Gapps.zip. When done hit the back button and choose the "reboot system now" option.

Let boot up.
Skip the initial sign in. Go to Wireless setting and setup wireless network. Go to PlayStore app and sign in to Google account.

Download Titanium Backup, Root Uninstaller, and Link2Sd.

The partition on the SD card that you made needs to be formatted to ext.4 to work with the MiRaGe ROM. You know how to do this on your MAC right?

Good to know about the recovery, thanks! I already have LeslieAnn's "prep for new rom" wipe on my sd card, I used it when I flashed the newer Harmonia froyo version she put out. Can I use that wiper, or do you recommend obiejohn's instead?

OK, questions...

Why do I need to wipe everything manually if I'm using the wiper program?

What do you mean by set up wireless network after skipping sign in?

What is root uninstaller and why do i need it?

I can't remember why, but I thought I had read that I needed to have a fat partition b/c I use a mac...and that some functions or apps for the V don't like ext partitions...

That's it for now, thanks so much for the directions!! :)

Why do I need to wipe everything manually if I'm using the wiper program? For a more thorough wipe to make sure you have the cleanest partitions to flash to.

What do you mean by set up wireless network after skipping sign in? When it first boots up you will be in the setup wizard menu and only 3G data turned on. You will have to skip in order to setup and turn WiFi on.

What is root uninstaller and why do i need it? Read my Link2SD tutorial in the all things root guide for better understanding of why it's needed.

In order to use Link2SD with the MiRaGe ROM you need a partition formatted to ext.4. I have 87 apps linked to my ext.4 partition and still have 110MB left on the internal storage. Those apps even open faster.

If you follow my directions to the letter, you will have the best, fastest, smoothest, most reliable, long lasting ROM ever developed for our V, without any glitches, system freezes, or reboots.
I have had this version/build of the MiRaGe on this phone for over a year with no problems, because I wipe and format everything the way I do. When I restore the backup after trying new ROM, I wipe and format everything the same way before restore. Takes just a couple of minutes more in the recovery, but I have no problems with the ROM latter.
Wipe how you want. I just like to do it the way I do (I'm a bit OCD).
obiejohns wiper is way better.
Root Uninstaller will also come in handy (already has for me with five different apps) when an update for an app is borked, or just doesn't work how it should. Just go back and installed the saved apk of the app version that did work. More and more updates to apps are being developed that don't work with our V. If you use Root Uninstaller to save app apk's then it no longer a problem.

That is all great info and very useful and of course I trust your wisdom, so I'll use your advice!

I actually don't have wifi, so can I skip the step of setting up networks in the beginning?

Thanks much, I'll let you know what happens!! :)

Sorry, I went to the links to download the mirage rom and it looks like there are multiple versions on his original thread on the AndroidCentral forums, I see a few md5 sum choices (I don't even know what that is). Which download do I choose? Thanks!

Last edit (hopefully) for last dumb question (hopefully, LOL). OK, I really don't remember the details, it's embarrassing. :( But when setting up Link2sd for the new rom, must I remove the sd card, put it in my computer and format the partition to ext4 (I don't even know if that's an option on my mac, but I assume it is)? Reading the LInk2sd tutorial, I somehow got the impression that when I go to set up Link2sd after flashing the rom, that the program asks me what type of partition I want...does it do the partitioning on the sd card? Or do I need to do both steps...tell Link2sd that I want ext4 and then format the partition to ext4 on my computer? And if that is the case, when do I do the physical formatting of my sd card? After I flash the new rom but before I download and restore any apps? Thanks again!
