So I realize this is obviously an opinion and everyone is entitled to it.

But I just picked mine up from Best Buy (waved activation fee for me).

Played around with it a little bit. And boy...

This thing is FAST.

But to the point - this feels like one extremely high quality device.

Whoever keeps making posts and reviews that this feels plasticy and cheap needs to see an OCD psychiatrist because I am one picky finicky mother Fer and this thing is HIGH QUALITY.

It's also light but not too light. It's PERFECT.

Last time I read reviews cos half of em must be on meth.

Anyone still considering not buying it because of that - DON'T LISTEN!

It is the BOMB.

I've been playing with mine for a couple of hours... I don't see what the fuss was about either... the back cover may not be a precision machined piece piece of aluminum, but it feels just fine, and I would have never thought that it would have been an item of interest. I actually really like the "topographic" back now that I've had a chance to hold it.

As an engineer and a product developer, I can admire the work that went into that thin, plastic backplate to hug ever so close to the body, and snapping perfectly into place. That's not an easy thing to accomplish.

Weight might mean more expensive materials, but it doesn't automatically mean quality engineering. (*points to Storm on desk, shakes head)

The Storm was designed by Indonesian children.

lol

Yeah I was expecting it to feel like a toy, but it doesn't. I don't understand why all those editors were talking about. Sure it doesn't have metal, but that doesn't automatically make it cheap. It feels just fine.

Totally - those editors are cracko wacko - it is still behind the 3gs on CNET too. I'm convinced Apple pays editors to make them #1 no matter what.

My father has an Iphone 3g.. I just showed him mine and he had a look of envy that I almost wanted to take a picture.

i'd siuggest changing the name of the thread to "Incredible does NOT feel plasticy and cheap" since i came into this thinking it was another complaining thread. i have never owned a metal cased phone...and being an engineer i know what "other" materials are capable of. anyone making remarks on it being "plasticy and cheap" don't have the phone and are jealous they don't have it and are trying to spread rumors, just a guess...not a statement

These are the same people who think that using carbon fiber in a Ferrari makes it cheap, so I wouldn't really worry about what they say. They'd rather drive around in a stainless steel Delorean.

Hahaha! I actually own a Delorean and picked up my Incredible today in it. The guys in the store got a kick at seeing it.

The quality reviews was one of the only real issues I was uneasy about. The second I picked it up that all went away. I think it feels and looks wonderful. Its no iphone but I bet its a lot more durable. If you look at one of them the wrong way the screen cracks.

Another thing to add, if I was designing a smartphone, it would be easy to see that many people go and put a case around the phone anyways. So why make it more expensive and really fancy when people go and cover it up with some god awful Hello Kitty silicon glove?

It always made me laugh that people would fawn over Apples industrial design of the iPhone, and then go and bury it underneath some case. Now all phones look the same!

I've been using mine for two days now, and I'm starting to notice what looks like warping on the back case. My palm presses on the joint on the left side of phone, and where my middle/ring fingers touch opposite on the right side, I'm noticing some air between the phone and cover. It's a strange feeling, as you push down and it sort of pops in/out in a subtle manner. It's not really a big deal, and a case will probably cover that up, but the construction really isn't top notch and the materials used could have been more sturdy, even at the expense of a bit more weight.
