S5 fails to excite

Seriously?

S5 is significanly larger then the S4 despite a small increase in screen size.
Bezels look bigger or unchanged.
Built looks cheap.
Not excited about the camera.
Battery could be better
...

Phones should stop at 5". Focus now needs to be on making the footprint of the phone smaller.

Better cameras

Only great thing is the IP67 rating!

It sounds like it'll have better battery life which is always nice. It has a cooler look. I also can't tell you how annoying it is whenever my S4 gets a little wet and it starts acting wonky. So water resistant would be great.

Like I said, I probably won't upgrade because I'm not eligible until next year but it looks really nice.

S4 was pushing the size limits for me. Look at the S5 next to it. Its just TO BIG!

The back looks awful.

So no, this is no joke post.

Edit, oh, I do like the download booster feature as well. Would like to see this kick in regardless of file size (ie surfing web on WiFi but WiFi is slow - grab it from LTE)

Maybe it's a poor photo, but that looks more like an S4 Mini to me. The difference between the two displays seems much more than 0.2".

Lack of build quality has me really disappointed.

That's rather difficult to judge until you can actually hold it in your hand, surely? ;)

I can't really understand the whole build quality argument, if it's anything like the s4 I can't see any issues, the plastic is more resistant to scratches and it doesn't feel cheap. Metal shows up scratches and glass can easily break..

Am I the only one that uses a case? Hell my s4 has been in a case since I got it. I might have removed the case like 4 times since I bought it.

As for the phone itself. It didnt meet some of the crazy rumors but its better in specs in every area than S4. I could never go for a Note size phone even though they are nice. S5 is a great size for me.

I really really really was hoping for the speaker to be on the bottom edge, like the Note 3... But it's not. :-/

I do have a GS4 and my contract is up. I might still go for it, but I'll take a look at all my options at that time. This time I won't rush like I did for the GS4 at launch. (At least I hope I won't!)

I don't have any major issues with the GS4 other than the 16GB limit (32GB was not offered at launch) so one of the main items for me would be for the increased RAM.

I also have no use for the heart rate monitor. Seems like a lot of apps already use the camera for that with good results.

Found size specs:

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_mwc_2014-review-1055.php

S5: 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm (5.1" screen)
G2: 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9mm (5.2" screen)
S4: 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm (5" screen)

So 3.5mm taller, 1.6mm wider and a SMALLER SCREEN!

Yeah, G2 got bezels right. :)
And, think it's a way underrated phone, but that's another debate.

I don't know, this just looks TOO iterative. I thought they copied Apple's model and do large refreshes every other update, but I guess not.

When I read "lack of build quality" it reminds me of those who haven't looked closely to notice there's nothing wrong at all. It's a very well built phone. Based on my personal experience, my S3 and S4 are extremely durable.

Now if you don't like the choice of materials, that's a valid reason to complain and buy something else.

This entire obsession over a metal phone only exists because of Apple and it's massive influence over people. I own both a metal iPhone 5S and a plastic Galaxy S4, plus a Note 3. I greatly prefer my plastic Samsung's and my Nexus 5 over the iPhone any day.

Frankly I'm so busy enjoying my Androids, what they're made of is something I simply don't think of.

I like improvements in camera, battery and water-resistance.
But let down by 2Gb RAM and processor (no Exynos 6 or Snapdragon 805), no 2K display. Maybe they reserved it for Prime version? But no word on if/when it will happen.

Did they say if the 2GB of RAM would be for both the international version and the one for the US? I don't know how they did the S4, but the S3 international version only had 1GB of RAM and the US version had 2GB of RAM. And maybe like you said they are reserving the good stuff for the Prime version. Either way, I think I will wait for the Note 4.

no Exynos 6 or Snapdragon 805

The 805 is still only available to OEMs as a reference design, so the launch of any devices using the SOC are unlikely until it goes into production. No one wants to risk the embarrassment of any delay scuppering their flagship's release.

S5: 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm (5.1" screen)
G2: 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9mm (5.2" screen)
S4: 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm (5" screen)

So 3.5mm taller, 1.6mm wider and a SMALLER SCREEN!

The internal hardware of the S5 differs significantly from the G2, though. They are two completely different devices.

Wow, it's amazing how much of a difference 0.1" makes.

It does look bigger. :(
