Is Facebook Evil?

Facebook is a phenomenon that has been irresistible to governments. I wonder how much of the 'wrong doing' by Facebook is actually them, or do they have their arms twisted behind their backs and/or lot's of $ dangling in front of them on fishing hooks?

Another thing I ask is - would Facebook be so big now if Faceparty never existed in the first place?

Yup...Facebook having all of your info is the way they sell ads! ;)

What happens if you use a browser, not a widget? I use Pale Moon with Ghostery on the PC and haven't seen an ad on kid's page. I never check my own. I don't have a profile. FB doesn't accept profanity.
I allow Javascript and another FB script to read, revoke privileges when done. Also toss cookies and history when closing browser.

Even on a phone you can use the browser page. You can clear everything on closing Boat Browser, so I assume other browsers have the same capability.

Pushing to see how far this will go before FB kicks me off. I've had this account since before real name nonsense.

Some hard core LEOs of all kinds are the ones that have said that people who don't post on social media are terrorists. The can't track what you don't post and that annoys them. These are the ones that think the public has no rights.

Yup, and I have seen articles even suggesting that people who are not on Facebook, are suspicious.

Speaking of arms lol.. There was a recent comic out recently in Germany about Zuckerberg but as soon as it came out everyone pulled the anti-semitic card out lol..

Facebook's advertisers apparently know about the things that I might want to buy.

HARDOCP - Facebook To Share Ads Based On Location History With Advertisers

I have no address listed, but if they insist, I'll tell them Bedrock. There is nothing there but a general store. It's a ranching community. The store is quite interesting. That high step was originally for carriages. I found really high curbs in Morrison years ago for the same reason. Couldn't open the passenger door of the Spitfire.

For those of you who have a Samsung Note 3 you will know that Samsung Note 3 comes with Knox and Knox is supposed to be private and supposed to keep your stuff confidential. Up until this last Facebook update your email accounts in Knox were confidential but after this last update you will find that in this last update Facebook has managed to hack into the Knox and retrieve all email accounts in your Knox account. WTF??

As an example, set up 3 different email accounts in Knox and then log out of Knox and go back to your personal account. In your personal account you will have one email account which will be your Gmail account. Now go to your General, settings,Applications and then clear cache and delete Data. After you do so you will nothing there. Once you have done this exit and go back to open up your Facebook application and you will see that it is searching and it will already have one of your email accounts from your Knox account for login   Delete that whole line and then hit any first letter of the other email accounts of your other email accounts in your Knox and you will find that it will pull up all 3 of them  WTF? Hackers and thieves they are. When they allow you to delete cache and data in General under applications they are actually not deleting anything.

Prior to this last update this was not possible. This was not mentioned in this last update.

Two things learned, Knox is not safe and Facebook is as evil as before.

Do you have a citation for this, please? None of the usual tech blogs and/or news sites appear to have picked it up yet.

I picked this up just today. Even if you do a clean install of Facebook it will pick up all your email accounts from Knox and when you opt to log in it automatically shows you the first one from your Knox account and then shows you the rest to pick from. WTF??

If you look at the previous options under App ops you will see that there was no such option as Email permissions. We had Location,Read Contacts,Modify Contacts,Post Notifications,Vibrate and Camera.. Nothing about reading Email accounts, especially from what was supposed to be secure in Knox.
