Li-Ion Battery Info

Charging lithium-ion batteries

Just an interesting link on Lithium Ion batteries and charging - thought I would share as the Desire has a Li-I battery.

I remember reading discussions about charging before, and I think the upshot of it all is that it doesn't matter at what %-age you charge, but draining it all the way down and charging all the way up all the time will reduce the life of your battery as it only has a certain amount of "cycles".

Hope that's of interest to some folk!

Depleting your battery 50% then charging it to full, then depleting it to 50% and then charging it to full again, would have the same effect as depleting it 100% and then charging it 100%

It's all the same in the long run... if you charge your battery half way through the day and then deplete it again before charging overnight, it would not increase the longevity of your battery any more than just depleting it all day and then charging overnight.

One cycle = one complete discharge and recharge, even if it's discharged and recharged in stages.
