So I went and played with the Incredible today, took a shotty video with my eris - overall impressions were that it's pretty much the Nexus One, or at least a great alternative. I think I'll probably pass and wait for a different device...

One problem I found with it is the optical pad is laggy when you try to move left and right from the home screen - I'm a frequent user of my track ball so this would probably annoy me, but I might be able to get over it.

Your impressions??

A friend of mine with an eris grabbed my phone last night at the bar and instantly went for the track pad. I think it must be an eris thing, cause I haven't even used it yet, and am finding it very easy to navigate everything with finger gestures.

What would you be waiting on that would be better? Unless you mean an Iphone, but thats not matter, thats just a matter of software tastes if anything (and ok a couple of features).

i actually bought it and think i'm going to return it at some point in the 30 day period. it just does not feel very polished and android in some ways feels like beta software. most of the apps look like crap compared to iphone apps. The touch sensitive buttons are really annoying (for heaven's sake why don't they use real tactile buttons like on the desire ). The screen is way to narrow and it is really difficult to type in portrait mode. And frankly, coming from an ipod touch, the keyboards in android are absolutely horrendous (both the stock ui and sense versions). I think i'm going to jump for the 4g iphone in june or july. sigh at&t here i come :(

You can turn haptic feedback off. I like the keyboard better than the ipod touch. I think a lot of that is coming into an opinion mode, however I would have to disagree that the apps and software aren't good.

i didn't say that the apps weren't good, i just said that they looked much worse. sure at the end of the day, both phones may get the job done, but i would prefer to use a phone with a better user experience (aka, looks nice, runs smoothly, etc). I did turn of haptic feedback and that helped. But I still don't like how narrow the keyboard is in portrait mode. I think they should have made the screen wider in portrait orientation.

I am coming from ipod Touch....Incredible is my first android phones...So far I like D.I.

I filled all the screens with widgets, progs, and shortcuts....no lag anywhere.

As far as keyboard...I actually prefer it to the ipod Touch's one.

The Incredible is just so much faster!

At the end of the day it all comes down to the provider....VZW fits my demads...some are safisfied with less

The ones at the stores usually are a little slower and lag some since people usually download all kinds of things and have a bunch of stuff on them. Mine has no lag what soever.

I have been using BB for 5 years and most recently had the curve.

In 24 hrs, of playing with the phone, I have not seen any use for the trackpad.

First 30 minutes were frustrating as i couldnt even find my inbox.

Now that I have played a bit, It is awesome.

Keypad is awesome. Tried the Storm2 and this is 10x better.

I am mainly using it for Business and less fun and games.

I have experienced several dropped calls in the last 24 hrs, and dont know if it is phone related.....

I must concur! Though I will admit I am a Google fan-boy no one can argue against the fast that Google is the future and the Incredible is getting it there quick. Verizon is already sold out, and backorders are going to be filled in a week. The Droid didn't even sell out the first day.

I agree that the stock keyboards are terrible. I use Swype & Anysoftkeyboard, which IMHO are superior to the keyboard on my iPhone 3GS.

AT&T can't even get 3G right, so I have zero faith that they will get their 4G working any time this century. I loved my iPhone, but it was unusable on AT&T's antique network. If you really want 4G, then you may want to consider Sprint's upcoming HTC EVO 4G. Same form factor as the HD2, with a really big 4.3", fat screen.
