Meep! custom firmware

Great Work !! Gracias !!

This piece of crap has been collecting dust ever since it stopped being detected by the servers. Finally a way to bring it back to life. MEEP support team blows and surprising they didnt have an work around like this waiting just in case ..

ICS 4.0.4

KNOWN ISSUES - Camera not working (installed Camera.apk from the official update.zip and didnt fix anything, also tried Camera ICS.apk from google play no luck ... assuming drivers werent included ? )

(Flashed on Windows 8.1)
1. Install liveSuite and drivers
2. Push in Upgrade button and hold down while also pushing power button
3. Now with your third hand plug the usb in and let pc recognize
4. Open liveSuite and select system upgrade and select downloaded ics img.
5. Wait while flashing completes

TIPS:

1. Plug your usb into the tablet and barely engage usb plug on pc side. Once your ready to plug USB for pc to recognize you can push the USB in easier.

2. If your liveSuite says no device then unplug your tablet. Go through the steps again this time waiting till last step to plug your tablet in.

Again thanks to OP and the work put into this !! '

I have tried for the past several hours, probably 100 times and I still can not get any of my laptops or desktops to recognize. I installed the drivers and that LiveSuit, I also followed the directions exactly and still nothing.

1. Install USB drivers - Installs MEEP! as USB Device(VID_1f3a_PID_efe8)

2. Unpack the Livesuit software.

3. While the MEEP! is turned off, Push a pin into the "Upgrade Button" on the rear of the MEEP! while simulanteously sliding and holding the POWER BUTTON and THEN (while still holding the other two) plugging it into the laptop. The Red light turns on and It then does the USB Device install and says all is good. Now let go of both the power and upgrade buttons. It Installs as USB Device(VID_1f3a_PID_efe8). During this whole time the screen stays black.

4. Load up the LiveSuit, select the image file, select the "System Upgrade" button.

It is at that point that it says "No Device Available!" no matter what I try.

These are both the original MEEP!, I tried one on v2.1.2 and v2.1.3 but both fail. Yes I have two of these monstrosities and I really need to get them installed with this custom firmware!!! :)

I am also using using Win7 x64 as the OS.

Any help would really be appreciated!

does it have another thing besides those numbers?

Unfortunately, no. I took the tape off the back but there weren't any markings on the back of the lens. It was just blank. I know that it's 0.3 megapixels, has a 24-pin connector, and is using an Allwinner A10. The 0.3MP cameras listed on the A10 supported camera devices list include:

OmniVision - OV7670 (24-pin CSP2)

Micron - MT9V112 (36-Ball ICSP)

Galaxy Core - GC0307, GC0308, GC0309, GC0329 (20-pin CSP)

Hynix - HI704 (24-pin CSP)

Superpix - SP0838 (20-pin CSP)

Source: http://service.awbase.com:8000/faq/index.php/A10_Camera模组列表

I'm guessing it's the Hynix HI704

I am using win8.1 64bit

I run livesuite first and select the image. Then I press and hold upgrade and then power for about 30-45 seconds (20 seconds also worked for me). Next plug in the usb cable. You will hear a usb device connect and disconnect then a connect sound again and livesuite should automatically detect the tablet. You can let go of both buttons. It will prompt you and ask if you want to format the device or just a normal upgrade. I chose normal. When its finished it pops up a window, you hear the usb device disconnect and your tablet restarts. Do not unplug until it completely restarts.

Hope this helps. Photo proof attached.

Not caused by the country of sale .... is caused by the date of manufacture.

Sorry my english please
Greetings friends

Thanks in advance for your help developing a patch!! With meh.com selling these recently, there will be a lot more people looking to use your patch – myself included!
