Hi,
I own a small business repairing electronics.
Most of my business is from school districts, and they only pay via credit card.

I have just upgraded to the F6 and I am having problems reading any credit card. It gives me the msg "card not charged"

Does anyone have any tips.

Thanks

Hi,
Well I think I found the issue. There is a battery in the card reader, i;m guessing it should be at least 3.3V, it reads under 3.0V. I am going to replace the batt and order another card reader. I will keep posted.

I did solder a 3.3 V source to the PCB, it ran credit cards fine.

I am happy it is not the phone itself :)

Just an update.
I finally received a new card reader after 10 days (the red one).

It works fine with the F6, I guess it was just the battery in the card reader after all.

Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate this in fact. I run a small business and have been looking into getting one of these, now at least I know what to look for and if I ever have an issue with it.

One question I do have, have you tried using any micro usb port keyboards with the F6? I tried my wifes Tablets micro usb keyboard and I couldn't seem to get it to work at all. Are these even compatible with a phone?

Hi, I have never tried any keyboards or anything so I couldn't tell ya.

But for the square, the fees are 2.75% but I have seen higher (over 5%). I have tried a few card readers, one would not work on a rooted phone and the other would freeze any payment for 60 days, less you showed proof you had enough funds in you bank account to cover any charge backs, this was not acceptable when ordering $1000.00 in iPad parts, I quickly issued a refund and used the square.

I have never had any issues with the square and they issue payment the next business day. The red one looks kinda cool plus most of the $10.00 goes to a good cause, but you issued a free one.

Thanks for posting back.

Good luck.

Caused me to go and buy 4 new card readers! :)
I use two phones with square.
My last two phones were on Sprint.

Changed over to Metro and didn't want to pay a HUGE charge (around $700) for 2 new Galaxy S3's!
Went with the F6 and had to use them as hotspots for the old phones (only way I could swipe cards).

I called Square and they said I had to key in the cards on the F6's as they weren't supported and would not work. Yeah... higher percentage and a "per transaction" fee! Didn't sit well with me.

Bought a new reader a couple days ago (because of your post) and it worked flawlessly!
Bought three more readers last night.

Thank you for the info!
