Hi all, I am very new to android and smart phones and would like some advice. I have gone for the Sony X10 with one of the main reasons music and hopefully using it in the car. Can anyone advise me what is the best way (device) to pipe my phones music through the car stereo. I do not have a bluetooth car stereo or and mp3 inlet. Any advice thankfully received. Cheers

If your car has a cassette player in it, you can just get a 3.5mm cassette adapter, that will give you the best sound since you dont have a direct input. If not, then the only other way would be to get an FM adapter. You plug that into the phone, set the frequency, then tune your car radio to that station. These don't really give you good quality sound though. So unless you want to get an aftermarket receiver, that's all you can do.

You always have to qualify what you mean any time you use the word "best". Best is always subjective.

Best sound quality?
Best price?
Best appearance (lack of cable clutter)?
Something else?

Part of the answer to your question also depends on what options are available to you.

In terms of sound quality, I'd suggest the following list, roughly in decreasing quality and IMO:

- Aux in
- USB (only suitable for listening to music stored on memory card and only if your head unit supports it)
- Bluetooth A2DP
- Wired modulator
- Casette adapter*
- Wireless modulator*

* Avoid if possible unless you're really not picky at all about quality

Check out companies that make iPod interfaces and line in adapters for factory stereos for your make/model as that may be an option for you. Some companies off the top of my head: DICE, BlitzSafe, USA Spec, Peripheral Electronics. I'm sure you can get more suggestions if you hit some car stereo sites.
