Root {DISCONTINUED}MegaTron 6.2.5 (Updated 7/13/13)

Hi guys it's been a while since I've tried installing ROMs. Will I have to root my Ultra before taking the steps to install Megatron?

You don't need to pre-root your Ultra, but you will need to install ClockWorkMod recovery (usually just referred to as CWM). You'll also want to know how to put your device into download mode and recovery mode, if you don't already (the thread here explains a little of what they are and how to do them). So here's a quick breakdown of what to do:
1. Download the ROM and move the zip file to your SD card.
2. Go here and follow the Odin instructions for installing CWM on your phone. I can't remember if the instructions say or not, but you will need the Ultra to be in download mode when you connect it to the computer and Odin.
3. Once in recovery, flash the ROM. It will add root, and make the necessary changes to prevent the stock firmware from overwriting CWM.
4. Reboot and enjoy your new phone! :)

Are you trying to send or receive MMS?
Yes, though I am unable to test it anyway right now because I don't get MMS or data where I am.

I may have figured out a fix. At least ##data# says what it should now. I edited apns-conf.xml to include my settings, and then used "APN Settings Shortcut" from the play store to select the appropriate one. I am using a MVNO, so my settings are non standard for sprint.

All of our files/development are tested extensively by several testers and are not released untill all bugs have been corrected. Note: 90% of damage done to devices when installing custom software is due to user error.. ;)

Prepairing your phone for this install

Clockworkmod
1. Latest, Updated Clockworkmod located here (If you do not install this first, you WILL brick your phone)
2. Get a nandroid backup of your current running system with new CWM now..

SDCARD
Due to some added features in this ROM (Apps2sd) this will allow you to double your app space by moving them to a seperate partition (for apps only) on your sdcard so, you will need to repartition your sdcard before you install the ROM

Preparation
1. conect your phone to your PC and enable Mass Storage
2. copy everythiing on your sdcard to your computer
3. in the sdcard folder on your computer, delete these files:
Android
android-secure
data
LOST.DIR
4. close the file but leave your phone connected to your computer

Partitioning
5 reboot into CWM

For installation:
Clockworkmod Install

Download Links:

Boost vv
Megatron 6.2.5 Boost.zip

Sprint vv
Megatron 6.2.5 Sprint.zip

1. Select: "install zip from sdcard"
2. Select: "choose zip from sdcard"
3. Select Megatron_6.0.zip
4. Select "Yes"
5. Watch it install...
6. Select: "reboot system now"

First boot might take up 5 min. let the device sit for an additional 5 min after it boots the first time ( i know it's hard!!:p) so everything has a chance to start up without you starving the RAM by playing with it..

7. After phone has sat for a while after booting, copy back all your files to your sdcard and reboot. Then sign into google and sync your contacts back

Do not install ANY apps until you follow the instructions below

APPS

Apps2sd
What is Apps2sd support?
Apps2sd support is using an app that moves all the files of your downloaded user apps and dalvik cache to an ext4 partition on your sdcard while leaving the app itself on your internal data space. the result is that the app actually takes up way less space in your data space giving you the option to install almost double the amount of apps to your phone.

Facts:
* this is not the same thing as the crappy move to sd method in Settings>applications whitch only allows you to move certain apps and doesn't really make a difference on you data space. any app can be moved to sd-ext. note: launchers, widgets, or the app itself can but should not be moved to sd-ext

* Apps2sd support is adding a few programing lines to the kernel so it will mount the new sd-ext as part of the system. It does not mean you have to use the app Apps2sd. There are others that do the same thing and work better. Imo, i recommend Link2sd from the market. It's smoother, easier, and has more features. so my instructions will be for that

Instructions
1. Go to the market and install Link2sd.
2. Open it.
3. it will ask how to mount your sd-ext. tap ext4 then it will tell you to reboot
4. reboot your phone
5. open the app again
6. go to settings
7. configure the settings to move all three files:
apk <checked>
dex <checked>
lib <checked>
8. also in settings make link2sd automatically link new apps to sd-ext and close the app.

now you are free to install apps... Please read the WARNING below vv

WARNING!! Do not restore your apps or app data from any type of app backup. eg. Titanium backup. This is more of a new ROM than it is an update from the previous Shevron Rom as well as being based on a new version on android all together so restoring apps and data that came from a previous version will certainly cause problems. It is best to just reinstall everything from the market again. Once you do have Megatron installed and all your apps back, you can then make a fresh backup of your apps and data. All future versions of megatron should be restorable from apps that were installed on this version..

Removed Apps
Download linksVV

Megatron_AppInstaller.zip

Removed_Apps.zip

Instructions
1. Download both Files above
2. Unzip the Removed_Apps.zip only
3. Using 7zip or Winrar, open Megatron_AppsInstaller.zip as an archive
4. In the archive, open the system folder
5. now open the app folder
6. now go to the unzipped Removed_Apps folder and drag or copy whatever app you want into the archive /app folder
7. close the archive
8. move Megatron_AppInstaller.zip to your sdcard
9. reboot into CWM
10 choose "install zip from sdcard"
11. "Choose zip from sdcard"
12. Yes
13. "reboot system now:
you now have your stock apps that you wanted back :D

Themes

Black/White

Stock Theme
Use this theme if you want to use UOT and make your own theme
Its not a flashable.zip, its for UOT use so when people want to make their own themes. If they use UOT off the current theme they are more than likely to get there statusbar killed on boot. So whenever you want to make a UOT theme just extract this zip and you will find a framework-res.apk and a systemui.apk use those files to upload when UOT asks for them.

Instructions:
1. Download to your sdcard (wherever you want inside the sd)
2. reboot into cwm
3. Select "install zip from sdcard"
4. Select "choose zip from sdcard"
5. Navigate to where you saved it
6. select it
7. select "yes"
8. Select "reboot system now" when its done

Enjoy your new theme and be sure to thank Chevanlol360

If you have any questions about the ROM, Please read the FAQ's below before you post in the thread. Otherwise you question will go unanswered

I made it thru step 6 and let the phone sit for 15-20 minutes after installing MegaTron...it says "touch the android to begin". When I touch the android it glows but nothing happens...I managed to pull down the pull down menu and look through the settings but in the end I am still stuck at that screen asking me to touch the android to begin...mind you I have not gone on to complete step 7 and copying everything back to my sd card yet...is that what is keeping me from getting passed that screen?

Thanks Powerkane, I am rooted and MegaTron 6.2.5 is one the phone and I can navigate thru the pull down menu and settings but I can't get off that main screen. So are you recommending flashing the older version of MegaTron and then upgrade or is 6.2.5 buggy or what?

OH YEAH, a couple more things...when I copy everything back onto my sd card...are there things I need to NOT copy back? Also, this phone is not activated yet...My wife is switching from her Samsung Galaxy S2...so I am trying to get the Samsung Transform Ultra all set before switching her over b/c once she gets it she won't part with it for me to do anything else to it...she's a serious phone head. LOL!

I think I got CWM installed via copying the recovery.img to the root of the sd card then using terminal emulator.

LMFAO! Thanks my brother....Powerkane...you don't know my wife...you can't tell her anything...she won't allow me to show/teach her enough to know when she has good technology. HER big hangup was losing the tangible keyboard that she had with a blackberry...go figure. My plan is to get that S2 and root it next...although my personal opinion is that the phone I currently have is the better of the 2 (ZTE Warp Sequent vs S2)...I just don't care for her S2...my warp sequent has pretty good specs, is rooted and prolly gets 8 or 9 hours of battery with average to moderate usage. Thanks again for helping me out PK!

one more question...what about the warning to not install aps until you download links2sd? I partitioned her card like the directions said.....so I am guessing I need to follow th remainder of the directions unless by the time he had MegaTron updated to the version 6.1.1 this was no longer an issue.

to be honest i didnt do that part because i didnt what to partition my card so with that being said you probably can just reformat your card to be a normal card and not worry about link2sd..
sorry for the reply time i had to help tear down my cousins carport

lol i'm thinking of getting this from access wireless (run on sprint network) hopefully if i flash the sprint version it will work.. anybody knows if its dosent lol.. even tho im still gonna get the phone.. looks like a good phone for dev... one question.. what happened to theme links? and two... is this phone armv6 or armv7 :)

good question...I noticed the link to the themes seemed to be MIA. I am fixing up this phone for my wife so I was hoping to add the pink theme...and considering she is not an Optimus Prime fan (Transformers...more than meets the eye), I was hoping to find a way to change the boot annimation too...LOL.

sorry for the late reply the themes were for megatron 6.0.4, the fifth megatron version after the name was switched from $hEvRoN ROM (version 5.3.2 and earlier) and was removed when the update to 6.1.1 rolled out, as for changing the boot animation get with me what you want it to be and ill load it on my spare phone with a bad esn (got it off ebay it was probably lost and found or reported stolen) i rather mess that up than you messing up a good phone

P.S. i know so much about this rom because its the rom i used on my phone when i first got it back in the later versions of $hEvRoN ROM

P.P.S (click here) for a megatron red theme for 6.1.1

P.P.P.S ill try my hand at making a pink theme for you
