HTC M8 Developer Edition & GPE -- No Visual Voicemail

I just purchased and activated the M8 developer edition and quickly found out that visual voicemail is not supported. I contacted AT&T and they confirmed it is not supported with the developer or GPE versions. Anyone have this working? What are the alternatives? Google voice seems like it is hit or miss.

The quickest & easiest way to get AT&T's visual voice mail is likely to return the handset to HTC (if possible) & get AT&T's variant, which should be out next week.

However,if you want to wait & risk losing the window of opportunity for a possible refund from HTC,someone may be able to pull the .apk from an AT&T variant (& side load the application) & make it work.

I'm not certain if that's even possible, hopefully someone else can chime in w/a bit more know-how & a possible solution that works well enough for you.

Just a FWIW,I tried something similar with a GPE MOTO G & T-MOBILE's WI-FI Calling.

I found an .apk download for it,side-loaded it & yes it loaded up,but,it didn't work,only force-closing on start-up/boot.

Even if someone can pull the .apk from an AT&T variant of the same hardware,I'm guessing the firmware/software is deeply imbedded & even if it can work,it'll probably take quite a bit of doing.

Also,I just went to AT&T's site to look for the HTC ONE M8 & add visual voicemail to the cart & it wouldn't allow it.Says this phone isn't compatible w/visual voice mail.

Might wanna make a couple calls/visit AT&T to verify.

Edit: Took another look @AT&T's site, visual voicemail is available on the HTC ONE M8.

Please keep us posted on your progress/results w/the Developer's EDITION & visual voicemail.

Similar situation w/T-MOBILE & WI-FI Calling.

You get a cleaner phone, whether it be the Developer Edition or GPE,but, you lose the carrier touches, good & bad.

Ditto w/the NEXUS devices.

Would this issue be the same on the unlocked version? I just got mine in the mail and was going to go port my number from Verizon but if VVM doesn't work I'm just going to return it.
