Hi,

My GS4 has just come back from repair due to a faulty sim card reader, and has came back and been completely restored. The only problem is when I short press the home key, nothing happens, the long press still brings up open apps and the double press opened S voice until I disabled it. Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums danplace92! :)

You are not the first person to mention this...

Home button not fuctioning after 4.4.2 update

... but it is by no means, commonplace or the norm for the Galaxy S4. I wonder if this is a carrier firmware related problem. Could you, as per #1.2 of 23 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?, give your model version and your carrier.

Thanks for the reply!
I've just read the other thread and thinking back they did mention upgrading the firmware while it's been away and it's now running 4.4.2 as well. I can't open the other like to find out how to find the version of my S4 but does the model number help? G19505 and the carrier is Vodafone.

Thanks

That sounds about right. I also have a Vodafone phone and that is not the normal behaviour. I would suggest, as you have only just got it back, doing a Factory Data Reset and see if the problem is still present, prior to loading your phone up.

Hi,
Done so still no different, can I use any third-party app to get around it?

I would either...

1. Take it back to where you got it, "fixed", and explain what has happened. It could be a faulty Home button.

2. Download and reflash the stock Samsung firmware yourself by following the instructions in the link, #1.5 of 23 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?
