Galaxy S5 Professional Review Thread

You can guess how most of the reviews are going to go, however good the Galaxy S5 is it will never overcome the build issue with reviewers and will receive huge mark downs for being made of plastic.

Probably also get marked down touchwiz, bloatware and features the reviewers don't like.

Almost not worth reading them to be honest.

EDIT:

Good example already, it's just going to be a repeat of lasts years reviews.

Most reviews so far have not done that since feel the other things offset it. I am not a fan of metal builds due to less shock resistant with pocket level drops. Metal functionally absorbs nothing.

I also prefer a replaceable battery, which unibody designs have an inherent problem with.

Would have preferred same size as S4 though. No harm no foul, since would not buy without a 32gb option.

Reading all the reviews on the S5, they're sure bashing it for not having any major changes and a so-so looking phone. I notice that the other big gun, the latest iPhone 5s is no different. It has even less changes than the S5. So why all the hate on those reviews on the S5?

I agree with the so-so look... bland.:p
However the plastic Samsung uses absorbs drops better than metal.
Then there is the water proofing... So the phone will take a lot more abuse then those pretty metal phones the competition is offering.

Is really off base! They were looking for something to bash and probably paid by HTC to do so...
Having read the review, which in a number of places compares it favourably with the M8, I very much doubt that suggestion. What this remark did do was remind me of some of the times Samsung have been caught astroturfing, something they'd probably rather we forget ;).

In fact I'd have said that the bulk of the review was positive, but they called out things they didn't like. So they saw lag which you didn't, but I recall similar variations when the S4 came out last year - some people said it lagged, others did not - and if they saw what they described it's fair to say so. As for the feel of the phone, that's subjective, and what's fine for some is not for others. Speaking personally, current phones have got a bit large for my tastes (something that putting it in a case doesn't help ;)), so I don't mind seeing reviews push back against this. But these things are personal preferences so I'd never expect everyone to agree, and I pay little attention to what reviews say a phone feels like because the only thing that matters is how it feels to me.

I don't think they hate it; they just don't like it and are honest about that.

They are traditionally Moto, Nexus fanboy site, so anything from different brand gets rarely reviewed positively, objectively without bias from what I see. Their blasting S5 design as being slippery with too much bezel, 2 seconds lag on recent apps button are nothing but personal bashing without any basis no matter how it's looked at.

They don't seem to like HTC either, so I don't think HTC had any influence on this review though.

The biggest bashing Samsung got from all the reviews was the looks and being plastic.
After the consumers buy the fancy phones and put a case on them, unless your phone savy you can't tell what they have so the nitpicking went right out the window. First pic show S5 with iPhone 5s and second pic shows the M8. The S5 & M8 look completely different.

NOW the M8 has become the ugliest phone!

Here is another review just released today.

This one I actually enjoyed reading. The guy explains that some features are "personal preference" but all in all, I think he did a real good job.

I rate the review at a 4-1/2 Stars out of 5 stars.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Review: Is Samsung's 2014 Champion The Best Galaxy To Date? : Prices, Specifications, Reviews | Know Your Mobile

For instance he says this in the Camera section:
Samsung Galaxy S5: Camera

With a number of Samsung’s recent smartphones I’ve been rather enamoured with the imaging capabilities. With devices such as the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, Samsung hit a good balance point between visual quality and ease-of-use, and I found that consistently, Samsung offered a very rewarding experience in terms of easy “point and shoot” operation with excellent picture results.
