Your thoughts on the 2.1v3 leak?

I installed the newest v3 leak for the Eris yesterday and so far, I'm loving it! As Caddyman listed, there are a ton of bug fixes. For me, the best fixes are the Google Voice issue and the 50% time without signal bug. Dialer lag doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. For now, I'm still using Call Log Trimmer just in case, though. I haven't had the leak long enough to know if the zombie phone problem (incoming call kills audio and you can't hear the caller and they can't hear you) or if battery life is better or worse than before. Battery life seems ok for now.

So how about you guys? Any thoughts on improvements and/or unresolved bugs with this v3 leak? Seriously, this phone is like 99% perfect for me. I'm just praying I don't have the zombie phone problem!

Edit: It looks like the 50% problem is still there. Airplane mode trick works to fix it until the next reboot. Oh well.

Best leak to date IMO. Gmail embedded images issue resolved, no dialer lag yet either. I noticed that my Slot Cycle was set to 1 already, which was not the case in the previous leaks or in 1.5. Everything is running fast and smooth so far. Coud not be happier. My next project is to update my wife's Eris to the v3 leak tonight. She friggin hates when I mess with her phone...lol

i have not reinstalled call log trimmer and my dialer is still snappy with 6 calls so far.

i have noticed a extremely slight backlight flicker on my screen sometimes since the update. it is barely noticeable but i do see it.

i have not done a *228 etc. my cell standby as is sits now is 64%

my battery is doing pretty good so far as well

most things seem the same speed, which was always quick for me, i use swype so there is no KB lag at all.

overall it seems it is better then v2, i am happy.

The 50% bug is not fixed. It did not show up after the initial startup after installing the leak, but I just restarted the phone and it's back.

One thing to note for the airplane mode trick is that you do no need a charger. If your phone resets and you are away from a charger, just do the airplane trick and it should be fine. If you do it early enough after restarting your phone (like, as soon as it has finally loaded after the boot up) then the actual value (50%) will be lower.

The reason for this is because the stats it uses in the battery usage section only includes the time spent off the charger. A restart resets the counter, so airplaning it right after it boots up for the first time will decrease that time to a few seconds. So a few seconds divided by the hours you have the phone on in total after the reboot gives it a 1% without signal, with those few seconds after the reboot where it was affected by the bug.

Am I making sense? The charger is only part of the protocol because it simply resets the time the phone uses to calculate the percentage of time without a signal. So if you reset at work where you don't have your charger with you, you aren't screwed.

As for the leak, changes are trivial, so I don't notice them. Never needed pics in GMail so..

Overall, 2.1 doesn't seem to live up to four months of hype.

apps with embedded links and gmail images work amazingly. Also i have noticed that there is little to no lag in the app menu when scrolling through top to bottom/vice versa. Only problem i have had is when i installed a App via market i went into the notifications draw down tab and when the app was installing and completed the notification tap froze halfway down on my screen and couldn't go up or down until i put it to sleep and awoke it again, but that coulda been a isolated issue with just me on a rare occasion. but the pros outweigh the cons most deff on this build version and i would like to say "official" but until the 50% bug is fixed i'm keeping that word in my mouth.

a bug I noticed last night was that when my was alarm was set to go off it didnt.. instead the trackball just began flashing as if the alarm was going off.

This continued for 10+ minutes then I eventually restarted my phone. I haven't seen this problem since.

I also noticed that my phone now has this weird habit of sliding to the far left screen on it's own

besides that I love this leak

Fifty percent without signal? As in you don't have a cell signal fifty percent of the time?

Settings > About phone > Battery > Battery Use > Cell Standby

If you see "Time without signal" listed there and it is at 50% then you have the bug. It doesn't actually appear to cause any trouble with the signal in anyway though. It is just a bug that some see as a cause for battery drain.

To fix, simply put the phone in airplane mode and let it sleep for a few seconds, then take it out of airplane mode and continue everything as usual.

When you go into battery and see whats using up power it will say cell standby and you press that and it will just give you a number if you have the bug, usually 50% is normal i suppose. and the 3g bug 3g signal is cut in half but it is full signal it's just a signal bug that really causes no issues, but is just a plague to know is there. as for 1x no issues there very accurate.

as OTD said,

Anyone having the silent call / no sound bug, please post a report of what you did immediately before the bug appeared in this thread:

http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-...-phone-goes-silent-multiple-times-week-2.html

I'm trying to find a replicable way of triggering it, because it just seems completely random right now. If we can replicate it reliably, then someone might have a shot at fixing it, or we might be able to avoid triggering it in the first place.

Just noticed this on V3, and I don't think this appeared on previous versions - when a new Gmail message comes in, the green "charge" led blinks as a notification - can't remember if there was a setting for this before, but I don't recall the power/charge indicator ever working as a notification of anything - doesn't seem to notify new POP mail or missed calls - haven't tried voicemail yet either -

My gmail always blinked the little LED...ever since 1.5. New POP mail and missed calls blinked the trackball. That's in the settings for Mail and I think in Sounds & Display.
