Tasker profile/task creation

I searched but haven't seen this one...would be useful ;-) - at least i think!

I would like to create a profile/task that will popup (like a txt msg) and announce to me when my speed goes over 73mph. I would imagine that my GPS app would have to be loaded/activated for this to happen...which is fine. The alert would be nice since I don't always have cruise control on and some times am not paying attention.
It would be brilliant if it some how knew I was in a residential area (maybe by the GPS app knowing its only 25mph area) and remind me as such and/or alert me when going over say 28mph.

Not sure if this is at all possible, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Thanks!

You could monitor the %LOCSPD variable. This gives you meters per second of the last GPS position fix. This will be a battery hungry profile though

Thanks, I figured that much, but just have no idea if everything I want to do is possible or how to even program it into tasker. Battery isn't a huge issue since it would be plugged in charging anyway.

It's definitely possible. This site here has an API you can use to check the posted speed limit of the road you are on.

Just periodically poll the GPS, do some maths on %LOCSPD to get mph or kph depending on where you live, and then reference the coordinates to the above mentioned website.

Thanks...I would just have no idea where to begin with such a "task"...pun intended haha :)
