Help S5 Lost Google OK

Google OK apparently just spontaneously disappeared from my S5. It worked great for the first few days and then today it's no longer there. I've checked the Google Settings app and Hotword detection is set to On. I've tried toggling it back and forth, but it hasn't fixed the problem. Language is Default - US English.

Yeah, tried that. No good, even though before "OK Google" worked even on homepages without the Google search bar.

A couple of other points that might be related:
1) The Google Search Bar also disappeared. Is it possible that this accidentally got deleted? If so, is there a way to restore it?

2) The phone also no longer responds to the "Hi Galaxy" command (and yes, it's enabled; also I changed the command to "OK Galaxy"). Perhaps something in the OS that enables voice recognition - for both the "OK Google" and "OK Galaxy" functions during inactive periods is broken?

Solved. I had (somehow, not intentionally) deleted the Google Search widget from my homescreen, disabling the 'always on' "OK Google" function. Here's a link to the thread that fixed it for me: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/842521-hi-galaxy-not-working.html#post6534751

I tried all of these things and "OK Google" hotword detection is still not working on my Samsung S5. It was working perfectly when I got the phone a couple of weeks ago.

Clearing data in the Google search app in the application manager always works for me to get Google OK back

My "ok google" was working great when I first got the Galaxy S5. I installed several apps into it that I had on my S3 and missed them. Next thing I know my "ok google" wasn't working! I played around with shutting down or removing many apps but it still didn't work. Then it dawned on me, I also put back the missing app that the Galaxy S3 used to have called " Active Weather Wallpaper ". I changed the wallpaper to one of the stock ones in the phone and everything was working again. This app when running was blocking the "ok google" from listening.

I accidentally deleted my OK Google widget several days ago. I can find a generic Google search widget where I have to tap the icon in order to bring up the voice input option, buy I'd rather have the old OK Google widget where I just had to say OK Google. Any suggestions?

Just do a Long Press on the Home Key, Google Search comes up and on my phone, it says "just say OK Google"

I don't have the widget on any of my home screens either. I have never missed it because of the Long Press feature.

Happened to me a few months after start. I discovered that the Google Search app had been disabled somehow. I went to the Play store and enabled it - presto, it's back.

The speech button on the keyboard had been disabled too, and it came back too.

Go to language and input then voice search ok detection then follow instructions. Allows u to open google from any screen

My Galaxy S5 did the same thing! After much research and lack of success trying suggestions...I found by uninstalling the update for google and retraining the voice... it works fine....I do have to avoid automatic updates or I have to repeat the process....My contacts with both Google and Samsung have not yielded any more satisfying solution....Hope this helps you and perhaps many others!

Automatic Updates is a death knell to good apps. I never allow that to happen.

If it ain't broke, don't be fixing it until it is.

I think all you have to do is hold the bottom left (touch button) with the 2 rectangles, go to widgets and reload the "OK Google" widget...

Just chatted with Verizon on this issue. Power off phone and start in safe mode. To start in safe mode, power on phone, when you see the Samsung logo - hold down the down volume button until the phone goes into safe mode (may take 45 seconds). Go into settings/Language and input/Google voice typing/"ok google" detection, turn on "From any screen" and follow prompts to reset "Ok google". Power off the device, wait one minute and power on the device again.

I had this problem also. The ok google search box was gone on my Samsung Galaxy S5. It did not come as a result of deleting the widget. It was a completely spontaneous act.

The widget was gone, the app is still there, however I could not re enable it. There was no widget to simply long press and replace. Resetting the apps did not help. Clearing data did not help.

For me, this is what fixed it. In this order! I had failings when the order or steps were different.

Step 1 - Restart the phone.
Step 2 - Go into the Google App then into its settings then Voice
Step 3 - Go into OK Google detection.
Step 4 - Turn OFF From the Google App.
Step 5 - Exit out to the home screen them Restart your phone.
Step 6 - get back to the step 4. Then turn it back on & turn on From any screen.
Step 7 - You will be prompted to retrain voice model. Do this!
Step 8 - Turn OFF From any screen.
Step 9 - exit back to home screen.
Step 10 - Long press and go into widgets.
Step 11 - Under Launcher3 you will see small right arrow like this > Tap it.
Step 12 - You will see Launcher3 4 x 1 Google with the mic
Step 13 - Long press and drag it to your desired screen.

Why did this happen? I have no idea. It was spontaneous, I am 100% certain. Zero grey area.
I'm an optus customer in Australia. Phone came with plan.

My search bar disappeared today and I've just found this answer. I didn't realise you could just long press the home button. That's a great idea rather than taking up space on home page.
