We are on the VZW family plan. I am out of contract and my wife's line is out of contract on the 3rd of July. We were both ready to move on from our Blackberries and excited to get the Incredible.

Since we received them on the 27th, we both like the phone and are impressed with how it works and how fast it is, etc...but the cons are outweighing the pros at this point.

We both use Yahoo. We previously enjoyed instant email delivery with 2-way read/unread sync, sent items 1-way sync, and full PIM sync thru the Blackberry desktop manager. After 2 years of abuse I was getting about 2 days of use out of my Blackberry.

Sadly...Yahoo integrations sucks with the Incredible. Even if I can live with delayed email delivery, there is still no way to sync the rest of my PIM data.

There are 3 negatives that I can see about this phone, and unfortunately they are outweighing the many positives.

1. Battery life. While disabling a couple of apps that were fetching my Yahoo mail (I am testing various methods to find the best solution) the battery life is still very very underwhelming. I do see difference in battery drain since I shutdown some apps, but I turned on last night around midnite, played for about 20 minutes, and went to bed. It is 5pm and I have the 9% warning already.

2. Lack of Yahoo support. I understand the phone is made by Google. But c'mon...the Yahoo support is terrible. If just one thing worked nicely I wouldn't complain that much. But email is terrible....my sent mails don't sync to Yahoo.com. K-9 doesn't offer Push at all on the Incredible. It says it does, however it doesn't work. ROID is a waste of time and money, and probably contributes to the poor battery life. If Yahoo made an app for the Droid Inc, it would make life soooo much better.

3. 3G service. I know the VZW signal is amazing in my home iwth every other phone I had...but my Inc only holds 1 or 2 bars. If that.

In summation, I really like this phone...I think the screen is amazing, the touch works very close if not equal to the iPhone, I love the apps. But I can't deal with the negatives I posted above.

So we are planning on returning our new Droid Incredibles and waiting for the new iPhone in June and switching to AT&T.

i just feel that the Android OS overall is still in it's infancy...and I just don't have the patience to watch it grow up.

This is a non-issue. Check the numbers of the signal rather then the bars. I get a significantly stronger signal with the DI then the Curve I had prior to the Eris.

Also I use my HTC mail for Yahoo. It works no different then using gmail on device.

And I mean battery is rough, but when you run a device that has half the processing power of many laptops, all in a small 1300mA battery, I can understand that.

Using the HTC mail, I've had no problems with yahoo mail. In fact my phone has been getting the emails faster than the yahoo toolbar has on occasion.

I have no issues with my yahoo mail. Why not check out google mail and calendar. I find it superior to yahoo's offerings. My entire family's calendars are linked together and we can always see what everyone is doing.

As for battery life, yes it is shorter than my Storm, but it still lasts through the whole day without issue. The 2150 mAh battery will be here soon enough to address this issue.

Hope your luck is better with whatever phone you decide to take.

You sound like an idiot - are you looking for sympathy? Your points are so off and bars are inaccurate as proven by about 1000 threads already.

Stop crying already and go give the incredible to someone worthy.

A lot of us get 20+ hours on our phones - if that's not enough, you shouldn't own a smart phone.

iPhones are for those who don't know how to use technology and need an extremely closed boring platform with a shitty ATT service.

Ugh - even a married couple is less mature then me.

yes it does have terrible yahoo support, but its a google phone so i am just fully switching to gmail. i don't even really like yahoo anymore so that takes care of that for me. as far as one or two bars, yea sometimes, but i still have great call quality and all my conversations are clear so that doesn't always mean anything. at the rate the android market is growing it will have as many apps as the appstore in no time. so imo i think this is an all around great phone. but thats just my opinion.

you people are nuts...

let me tell you this from one of the biggest gadget / cell phone freaks you will ever find. I've owned every "good" smartphone from the Blackberry Storm, to the Tour, to the Bold, to the Moto Droid, Apple iPhone, and a ton of others. Hands DOWN, this is the best smartphone I have ever owned.

Android takes some getting used to for newbs, but if you really understand all that this phone is capable of, you'd figure out that it's the BEST smartphone on the market right now. Not to mention it's on the best carrier in the US, it's a double win!

I think you are not giving the Incredible a fair chance.

1. The battery is quite frustrating but there are options on the way.
The new iPhone will not overwhelm you either when it comes to battery life. It will be fair at best.
Currently you can buy a 1750mah battery for the Incredible giving you about 30+% more battery life

Seidio - Your Single Source for Premium Smartphone Accessories

2. Yahoo mail can be setup to work seamlessly, just as Gmail does. I have it on mine working perfectly.

3. The bars meter is quite misleading. Looks at the signal strength under settings, the dbm # should give you the best indication of signal quality.

Good Luck on whatever you decide to do.

this ^

and check the decibles (db) of your 3g signal strength, I guarantee the numbers are better than your previous smartphone. Also, iPhone really is a toy. Android market is growing exponentially, if it keeps up at this rate it will double appstore soon. I hear you about the Yahoo thing, but you bought a Google Phone - expect gmail to work the best on it... seriously...

oh yeah and AT&T is satan and Steve Jobs is regretting making deals with him

Ya, all new Operating Systems take a few days to get used to? Android is completely awesome, and I'm so tired of all of the Iphone crap. I'm a huge Mac guy, and I think the Iphone is a nice phone, but there are other as good or better alternatives out there now. Yes, the new Iphone will be nice, but it will never be what it once was when it first came out, because other companies have caught up and I would say even surpassed apple at this point. You can't stay on top forever.....and the Iphone is no longer on top.....it's just a really nice phone. Apple wasn't always on top, and it had to adapt as well. The Droid Incredible is amazing, and as an Apple guy I am so proud to have a phone that I chose, and not a phone that my Apple brain told me I had to buy because it's made by Apple. Plus Verizon really is great. To the OP, enjoy your new Iphone in June.
