Root [ROM] >Another Update!< Origin v2.1 - 5/4/14

I was working on the new version of the ROM and I wiped the cache and dalvik cache. Then all of a sudden, I had the brightness/wifi issue that's common with this phone. I just recovered my backup and then flashed the rom without wiping the cache.

Main point, when updating the ROM, just flash the zip and nothing else. If your coming from another ROM, factory reset from CWM, then flash.

Also another interesting point, the xposed framework (not the app) is reset after updating... weird. The easy fix is to just go into the app and then reinstall the framework again. Nbd.

I have tried to restore the Voicemail apk but it will not work with this ROM. I even reflashed back to the stock B09 to check my titanium backup to see if it could be restored. It restored and worked fine but I cannot get it to work on this ROM. If you go to the help section of the app itself it says to send a message to activate@vvm.sprint.com but that does not work either. For some reason the app cannot get a data connection, if you click on the activate@vvm.sprint.com link in the help section it gives an error that there is not a data connection but everything else that requires data works.

If you go to phone, then settings and click on voicemail in the options it will give an error message if the Voicemail app isn't installed. Hopefully there is something that can just be added back into the ROM since it works on the stock debloated one by restoring with T.B..

That's because you also need to have the SprintPermissions.apk and the SprintTouch.apk in System/app along with the voicemail vtt-sprint.apk. Without the other 2 apks, the voicemail app thinks your phone isn't from Sprint/Virgin Mobile.

The reason I didn't include the voicemail app is because it takes up RAM in the background and the Sprint services are always running as well. Also, most people would rather have their voicemail translated to text using google voice for free rather than pay $2.99 for the same feature.

Thanks, I'll try and get it working today. I don't use the voice to text part of it. When it was free for a month it was horribly inaccurate, although it was humorous at times. Without the Voicemail app I do not get any voicemail notifications and find it convenient to just play voicemail through the app rather than going through the dialer. Maybe I'll give Google voice a try sometime. Thanks again.

So this is compatible with zte supreme virgin mobile? If so how are you successfully backing up? Cwm has zte as unsupported device. Which option are you using to backup before trying this? I super appreciate your work btw. We're a little late for a rom but the timing is perfect for me.

This is the CWM we are using.

Anybody having any issues entering your phone's MSL when you get to the hidden menu ##data# ?

I have MEID converter, and my MSL worked before I flashed v1.2 and for whatever reason it doesn't anymore after the update.

Not a pressing issue, but it does bug me that I can't enter the hidden menus to edit that stupid reverse tunneling.

Huh weird. Maybe after Sprint pushed out the update, they made it so you can't do this anymore.

This ROM is based off of stock, so some issues/Sprint security from stock are still there and I can't do much about it (like the common wifi/brightness issue with this phone).

Try flashing the new update and see if it fixes anything

Thanks alot David and Blue. I can't even convey how excited I am about this :) I've been sitting on my hands waiting for a rom for the supreme. It's an amazing phone for the price point. Never had a problem out of it. So if I'm rooted do I need to do anything special before pushing CWM or flashing the ROM?

I had the same issue actually. I tried to remove throttling before installing this ROM and the MSL worked. After installing the ROM and restarting service, I tried again and get a security warning saying the MSL is incorrect

Do you know if this is an issue with stock B09 too?

If this is just an issue with the Origin ROM, I think I know exactly what I can do to fix it

Sorry about all the weird issues guys. In the next update, the newest superuser su file will automatically be installed, sprint permissions will be added back in, the GPS icon will be fixed, and xposed will be removed as a system app (you can still sideload it from online).

Anything else I should do before putting out the next update? Ideas?

What issues are being addressed and when will the update be?

Why does su have to be installed auto?
What good are the spring permissions?

Hey,

I have downloaded krazy kat soon will test it :)

btw,

https://www.dropbox.com/s/li9s6pv3o7c89vv/GalleryGoogle.zip

try this gallery, it works..

Awesome! Thank you! I was going to include this earlier, but I was always mad about the editing button not working. But somehow this gallery works perfectly!

Edit: actually, when I put it into system/app with the right permissions, the editing feature doesn't work anymore... Maybe it also needs the old gallery app. Or maybe I just need to reboot...
And nope. Editing isn't working unless you install it to data/app

Possibly the msl problem for some people, the new su file being installed automatically, and other things.

Basically before, every time you updated to a new version of Origin, the su file would become outdated and you'd have to reinstall it from the superuser app again. So superuser wouldn't warn you for root access for certain apps if you didn't update again
