and played around with the Incredible. First off it isnt as fugly as it looks in the pictures. Another thing is that I did not see any major thing which made me think to myself this is incredible.

It was a bit smoother but it felt cheaper for some reason. 2.1 was nice but considering that the ota will be here eventually for the eris that it doesn't seem like a big deal(or you could root it now for it).

I am quiet amazed that there has been so many people claiming to be switching to the eris to this.I could understand if this was a revolutionary upgrade to switch from the eris from 6 months ago to this, but there simply wasn't. The sense ui is practically the same and made the eris and incredible feel very similar for the exception of $299 vs $79 retail. I just do not get it . Sure its nice that it has the snapdragon but I couldn't tell that this was 5x faster than the eris

Anyway has anyone else played around and what are your impressions?

Why dont you read my post and then read the announcement again.

"don't post threads here talking about how much you hate the Eris and bragging about your new toy. "
" there's no need to make your own thread to say goodbye."

This is neither. I am clearly for the eris. I am talking to those Eris users regarding their reactions about it. Surprising to see this from someone which has almost 800 posts.

+1

You're cool, good on ya for going in and checking it out for Eris users.

From my impressions without ever touching an Incredible, is that the extra processor and RAM make a minimal difference. There's still lag, bugs, etc. Apps just open faster.

This was after spending a few minutes, for the first time, in the Incredible section and reading through threads.

Some people are too stupid for their smartphones, which might actually be smarter than them, but it seemed like some experienced members were reporting that it was just a bigger, more expensive Eris.

As open as Android is, you really have to start wondering how shit the quality some of the phones are as well as the quality of the OS.

The GPU bug that has plagued the top of the line phones and the Eris, anything running 2.1 (that deteriorates the quality of the picture) still exists. The Nexus One, the flagship phone has a shit screen, and now the Incredible really seems to be nothing more than an Eris with makeup.

You can have a 64 core FapDragon processor in there for all we care, if the OS is buggy, the phone still sucks.

I think Android's new kid on the block charm has worn off. It needs to stop whoring itself out and coming into stupid things like book readers, TVs, cars, and tablets. Stick with one damn thing, the phone OS. Once you perfect that, then you move on.

I hate to bring Apple into this, but they took OSX, mastered it on the iPhone and Touch, now they moved on to the iPad. No matter how silly the device, they're moving slowly and there are no hiccups or instabilities.

Android could learn a few things from that. New phones won't do anything.

Lets see how FroYo is. Seeing how quickly after 2.1 (and it's bugs) 2.2 is being released, you can't help but wonder if 2.1 was Google's Vista.

Heck, all I did with it in there yesterday was open the web browser, there was a wait much longer than on my 1.5, opened "settings," there was a long, long delay then it opened but no settings, obviously, would invoke, then turned the device to landscape and opened the browser again.. a good ten seconds went by with no browser, so I handed the device to the fellow standing next to me watching.

It was quite the slowest device I've tested in a Verizon store, and I've tested just about all of them, being that type of person. :D

This may sound a little lame but I will say it anyway. The Eris, at least to me, is by far one of the better looking phones out there.

I feel the same way about it.

That brushed black, or matte black, whatever it's called, is classy as heck. The chrome band around the edges is a nice touch, too.

The whole thing has a great appeal to it front to back, side to side, top to bottom, inside and out. :)

I gotta agree with you guys on the Eris looks, if I was on Verizon I woulda got it over the Moto Droid. As for 2.1, I'm starting to wonder if I should upgrade my Hero when it finally releases. I'll definitely wait a week or two to see what kind of problems people are having with it. My Hero runs nearly perfect on 1.5.

You guys have the perfect size and best looking phones out. My Hero's no ugly duckling though, I still love it.

I love the way the Eris looks and feels, but I carry it in a rubber case all the time..Is there anyone here who is brave enough to carry it naked? Or do you guys know of any good cases?

the hardest part about carrying it naked is where do you put it since you have no pockets?

anyway.

i love my eris, it may not be the fastest phone, but the form factor of the eris and the performance is okay, it is a phone after all.
i got the incredible for my other line. it doesn't feel as solid as the eris, but boy is it fast, and it sure does take good pictures. i like both of them, and wouldn't deride either.

now what about that sucky motorola droid....

Lol, I don't care how the phone looks the Eris is just ridiculous slow. I don't know about you but im more interested in using my phone than looking at it. My incredible is a dream come true. No more worrying about dealing with task killer apps to free up memory, no more frustrating lag. Incredible is a liquid smooth dream come true. Easily 4 times faster than the Eris.

And almost 3 times the price.

I exchanged my Eris for the Incredible (still within my 30 day window) and I noticed a big difference. I do not think that it feels cheap at all.
