Help Missing Android app

i can not get the driver to install correctly at all. i have tried the nps and ddrivers on the disc, didnt work, uninstalled and downloaded and installed the link to the updated nps and drivers, didnt work, uninstalled, tried the swallowtail drivers from the link posted, didnt work, now reinstalling the updated nps and drivers to see if they work in combination with the swallowtail ones. the phone has never been detected in any nps, in "mass storage only" unticked, and "usb debug mode" ticked. "mass storage only" remains unticked, but the computer reacts differently when "usb debug mode" is ticked or unticked. tried the "download" mode, the "fastboot" mode, they all try searching for some different sort of drivers, but always fail to successfully complete the installation. where am i faulting? assistance required please..

Turn on USB debugging:

Settings -> applications -> development -> usb debugging

Leave mass storage off.

Install the latest NPS (link above) and then plug the phone in. Does it ask for drivers? If yes point it to C:\Program Files\Samsung\Samsung New PC Studio\USB Drivers

It should install all the drivers except on. Finally run NPS, and see if it see's GT-i7500.

If it doesnt see the phone, see my post here:

im using win xp... im going to try what you just posted.. but.. i can tel you that i did remove the nps and all samsung related things in program files before and try installing just the drivers from the disc and the seperate drivers you have linked to, but didnt work.. does it make any difference on the specfic handset? and is there likely fault in copmuter system? or handset? by the way..i tried that csc code thing you were explaining to somebody else *#*#something.. but nothing happens, the code just goes so i tried it a few time more, but same outcome.. am i doing it qrong? i have been trying that in the phone dialer part..is that right?

Yeah you type it in the phone dialer *#*#44336#*#*
No spaces, and exactly like that.

The composite driver is just to tell windows to enumerate virtual endpoints on the same cable. Its wierd why it says the service can't start. It almost seems like a problem with the USB host drivers on your computer.

You should use the drivers that install with the latest NPS, and you'll find all but one driver installs (if everything goes ok). If you look at the other post you'll see what you should see in device manager.

If you get the error again, leave the phone plugged in, reboot and check what you see in device manager. Do any of the other drivers show up at all?

tried that..no success.. same outcome..looked at your other post you posted a link to.. basically, what i am seeing in device manager is one thing only whilst connected in usb debug mode, samsung usb composite device with a yellow exclamation mark next to it.. i have tried to update the driver and pointed it to the folder you told me to copy to desktop..i copied the samsung mobile usb driver folder and the samsung mobile modem folder to desktop.. tried pointing to both those folders, and to any of their subfolders... nothing.. could it be a handset fault? or more likely the somputer system? should i try on another computer? does it work with a mac? how about another windows system? or is it most likely the handset?

its always a pain installing drivers for this phone but none the less everyone here on windows os have managed to get it done following the steps KAM has been over.
we have a plethora of os's ranging from xp to windows7 in 32 and 64 bit

my guess is to try connecting the device to another pc with windows on and see if you still get the same issues
if you do try factory resetting the device and see if that fixes it.

Yes, we mean factory data reset. It really sounds to me like an issue with the USB drivers on your PC :( Maybe you can use a friends PC to try it?

Failing that I would look up your motherboard or PC make and update the motherboard drivers, and/or any USB hub drivers. You may also want to run windows update in case you never have :p

I do remember USB support was updated at least twice through windows update.

im not a fan of these lightweight low fat os hacks. ive used them off and on and have had issues everytime.

its deffo not compatible with mac. linux i believe requires commandline knowledge.
windows is it im afraid

ok.. i got a friend laptop..installed the nps that kam linked to..conneted the phone.. and it installed all the drivers :) except one unidentified device.. which i presume is the one not required which i have read you mentioning to others... now nps tellin me update is available.. it say:
GT-i7500
Current version:
- CSC Ver: I7500VIAIG6
- Ver: I7500XXIG8/I7500XXIG8
Update version:
- CSC Ver: I7500VIAII5
- Ver: I7500XXII5/I7500XXII5

so.. shall i hit update? or shall i use the odin method? what difference will it make? is this the latest version offered? is it the same as the one i downloaded from somewhere linked by kam?will i still be able to do the galaxo/hero whatever thing if i use nps?

Its the latest version, and the same as the one you would be using with Odin (II5).

The only difference here is that it would install the german O2 customisations. That's just the O2 background (which galaxo will change back anyway) and some 'app' that takes you to o2.de

You might as well use NPS to update first. Its safer and doesnt 'technically' void your waranty! (even tho with odin you can put it back to this state and get your waranty 'back')

hey done it at last! :).. it seems a perhaps little "swifter"..but i cant really tell... should i do the galaxo/hero thing? will i still be able to use market? is it actually faster/ better? im thinking as i have my friend laptop.. i may aswell do what i like now...also.. he has a hero.. it seems fairly jerky and laggy to me?? i dont know if thats due to apps runnin or what.. what i do like though.. is the "people" function..the way the phone syncs with facebook and stuff so their pics are displayed and messages come directly to the phone as an email or sms would... can we do this on the galaxy?oh and by the way.. thanks for all the help guys (kam and rastaman :))

you need to read the galaxo thread and the guide for doing it
it is worth doing in my opinion
if had mine along side my mates hero and hes a bit jealouse as its made the galaxy an dream to use and doesnt lag as much as hero although the hero is smooth (your mate has probably got loads of apps on there)
the facebook app is free from the market as is most things other than the hero clock.
"people" function im not sure, not everything on the hero is ported across but the best things are there.
when you have the galaxo rom there is a "galaxo apps" section in the menu where it gives you the recommended apps to install.
performance wise its superior to the standard i5 rom
