How do I revert back to Jelly bean?

I just (mistakenly) took the OTA update for kit kat. I hate everything about it! I lost Swype, I can't turn off GPS, I can only send/read messages from a messaging default, I hate these white icons that don't indicate connectivity- ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone out there know how to revert back to jelly bean?! I'm also open to rooting, I suppose.

Thanks in advance

My daughter feels your pain. Personally I do not use Swype, but she does. I can live without the colored icons but they were nice. As far as text I am now using Textra but it was nice to be able to use the default. I also have yet to experience the low power BT device issue with WiFi.

In all though the new version seems to have too many short comings. After all that wait it is just very anticlimactic at the very least.

Swype can be purchased for not much in the app store. Its slightly different but I've been using it for a while and like it. The only drawback is the lack of cursor arrows on the main screen. Google keyboard also has Swype like feature too.

The default messaging app can be set in settings to whatever app you want. The icons are just the way it is but there are different shades of grey once you get used to it.

Overall the kit Kat performance upgrade is well worth it as the phone just works so much better now

Works so much better so long as you do not have low power BT devices and want WiFi that is. Got my daughter the Google keypad and she is happier but still liked the old one better. My daughter is fine with default messaging, I am not though. I have tweaked the settings and am at the 6-7 days per charge again but before the upgrade I was pulling 10 days between charges. My guess here is the transparent bars eat a bit more display battery.

Get to Tier 2 Motorola support. I got there because of bluetooth issues and WIFI issues. The Tier 1 rep asked me to clear cache and gave me the procedure. Didn't work - hung at Step 5. They've changed the procedure for clearing cache but apparently didn't tell their support folks.

They are sending me a new phone with JB on it.

For anyone interested, the new clear cache procedure can be found here:

Thanks a million!

What exactly were the Bluetooth and wifi issues you indicated to them?

How do I go to Tier 2 Motorola tech support? Is this not done through Verizon?

Tier 2 is still VZW tech support. You get transferred there after Tier 1 exhausts their knowledge base. I had constant random reboots that no one could remedy. Tier 2 authorized a warranty exchange. Got a new phone with JB and I'm refusing the KK update. Problems solved.
