Are you going to get the HTC M8 -Specs, carrier, discussion, and $$$DEALS$$$

The wireless vendor at Costco gives out free accessory packs with phones and with my M8 I got a 1amp charger, a cut to fit screensaver, super cheap headphones and insructions for a multi- charger that wasn'included. Nothing of use.

Ahh...that was in addition to the Charger and Headphones HTC includes in the packaging? That does seem a bit pointless.

The phone came with very nice headphones and charger.

I get the sentiment. I'd rather get nothing extra at all, instead of being given the equivalent of drug-store crap toys, as if you're supposed to be grateful for their largesse..... ;)

The package Costco gave Irishjoeyo was sweet. I'm guessing that it's a franchise deal and each owner can be as cheap as they want.
I really wanted to get a new phone before my trip. The last time I took a roadtrip my EVO LTE went through three entire states without a data signal. Sprint assures me the phone is fine though.

This Costco ad says that the accessory pack varies by phone, but evidently it also varies by store. I guess maybe I did get lucky with getting a pretty decent pack, which included a dual car charger and a car mount, but the 90-day return period is way above and beyond that which Verizon offers and well worth getting it from Costco even with no accessory pack at all, IMO.

Trying to decide if I should grumblingly accept...this unit or return it. Don't know if I will get one that is any better, not sure if I want to "roll the dice".

I would definitely take it back. For the price of the M8 it should be in perfect condition.
...
My opinion: Never settle for less than perfection when that is what they are telling you they are selling!

You should probably bring it back.... you know it will drive you nuts if not :)

Strike One: Took it to a different local store than I purchased it at (trying to get a different batch), right around closing time - I apologized to them for that but my work schedule sucks.
The store rep was clearly frustrated but willing to help, to a point. He told me right off the bat they had 4 units left earlier in the mid-afternoon, but after looking in the locked cabinet he said he had only one unit left (probably a made up line) and I could look at it without powering it on. He said, "I don't want to burn a phone". After looking it over for a bit I noticed dust under the screen in the lower corner, unable to verify if it inhibited the screen behind it without turning it on, he sent me packin' with a smarmy "good luck with your search".

Strike two: Took it back to the store I bought it from a day later than ^ and they were going to let me exchange, but pay the restocking fee. The rep un-boxed one, powered it on, and let me look it over. The screen looked good. Similar color temperature and no dust that I could see - but like I said before their un-natural lighting sucks for seeing detail. I turned it over and it had a big 1 cm linear scratch next to the 'H' in HTC and a smudgy little scratch/scuff under the C. Showed it to the rep, he was speechless. I said I was almost willing to take it, since I don't look at the back of the device everyday. I DO however look at the screen everyday.
He told me to come back on May 1 (Day 12 of 14). He is under the impression that is when the Harman/Kardon version M8 will be released. I asked if he thought it would be a software update (my line of thinking) and he thought hardware refresh, surprisingly.
He is nice. In a prior conversation he said he was switching from iPhone to the M8 and was going to miss the lifeproof cases for Apple, amongst other things. He had tried to order an M8 the day prior, for himself, but was not able to place a new order until May 1 - "with the re-release of the device", he says.
We all know the track record of hapless info from store reps, but maybe we will see the press released for "H/K enhanced devices" and marketing start on May 1, as well as a date for the M8 software update rollout?

My past few visits I have heard multiple store associates trying to sell this thing: HARMAN - Onyx Studio
On sale, with device purchases.

Can HTC Advantage be transferred if the original owner gives you the receipt they used to buy the phone? I'm planning on buying a barely used phone from someone, but I would like to have HTC Advantage just in case.

It doesn't appear so,however, you may have certain rights, depending on where you live &/or where the transaction took place:

This M8 is a month old, and it is the best smart phone in quality I have ever purchased. I have to voice credit to HTC from a heavy user of data, minutes, GPS navigation music and video. The camera is more than what I need.

I returned every other phone since the Palm 650 at least once. Evo 3g, one of 2 evo4g lte I purchased included. The m8 screen is perfect. The software is perfect. The build is perfect. The battery is outstanding. Everything functions as well, or better than I require. Sound and call quality are excellent.Quality has definitely improved in my experience. No case guy here. Love the feel of this one.

Thinking about getting this. Since I still have unlimited data, deciding if I want to pay a non-upgrade price for it. I figure it's time upgrade the thunderbolt. Only issue I have right now is I'm anti-big phone. TB is perfect size for me. I'm going to swing by a store later today and check it out to see if the size is tolerable or not.

At first I thought it was overly long with the front facing speakers, but got used to it very quickly. :)

I thought the length would be an issue for me, but after bout 3 days I found I was using the double tap feature 90% of the time and the other 10% I found really didn't bother me.

It really comes down to a matter of preference in the end. I love how slim this phone is and I barely notice it in my pocket, just like the M7. If you go the route of rooting there are mods that will give you the full screen experience and hide those pesky soft buttons that rob valuable screen real estate.

Let us know how your purchase went! It's a great phone to have.

Picked it up on Saturday. Liking it so far. Haven't made much progress in configuring it because I can't decide on a set up(sense vs go locker etc).

Front speakers are more handy than I thought. I didn't even consider the speakers when considering the phone. It's made for a nice portable music player around my apartment.

Only problems so far is Go sms won't send texts. And I can't figure out where messaging apps are getting the contact list from. When contacts were transferred to the new phone, it picked up everything. Which included every person I ever emailed from my gmail account. I went into the people app, cleaned it out. Looks fine. When I search contacts when making a phone call, the contact list is correct. When I pull up contacts when sending a text, the entire list is still there. No idea where it is pulling that contact list from.

So, i went into my local AT&T store on the 23rd and looked at ALL the phones. Salesman said "take your time", and i did. After one hour of calling each phone(to check the msg & email LED), and making calls to my aggravated wife, i opted for the Family Plan(10gbs.)+the Next Plan, and i walked out of the store with the LG G2. I hadn't even considered that phone before i went in. IMHO, it's the "best of the bunch" for me. After three days i can say that i'm not sorry at all. Feels great, no glitches, quality build, very fast, and absolutely fantastic battery life. If i start getting software or hardware problems, i will jump back on this forum to let you know. I still have the fourteen day "return option". :)

The g2 is a great device. Enjoy. I also signed up for the 10gb next plan. It's a good deal!
