Root [Virgin Mobile] Android 4.4.2 VM SPH-L710

I have flashed the "KnoxAppRemover-ND8-MK3.zip. for the Samsung Galaxy S3, by bilgerrya" (twice) but I am still getting the security update notifications.

Is there a way to stop the notifications?

Yes. I recommend the app Titanium Backup. It's a great app to backup apps and also freeze them. You're going to want to freeze the security policy updater.

Alternatively, you can use another root uninstaller or app freezer.

Which app do I freeze to get rid of the Picasa/Gallery sign in whatever notifications. I froze the only picasa apk I could find and I still get it. And patiently waiting for a VM 4.4 tar... Just because, Even though I'm back to running LS 5/6

edit: found this at http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00055924&fm_seq=69439

What Will This Update Do?

This update will address the following:

OS upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat

New Lock Screen Access
Media Controls - full-screen album art and media controls when listening to music
Camera Shortcut - access the Camera application right from the lock screen
SMS App Chooser - select a default application for sending and receiving SMS text messages
Restyled Status and Navigation Bars - status and navigation bars are translucent and can sit on top of apps, along with simplified status bar icons
Consolidated Location Settings - location services are integrated and more detailed by new Location menu
Expanded Emoji Icons
Wireless Printing – supports printing over Wi*-Fi and Bluetooth
Prevention Information pop-up message is suppressed.

sounds like general 4.4 info

edit2: mk5 is not even listed http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ but sprnd8 is, and samsung site has no VM downloads

edit3: after flashing mk5 zip, kies thinks im on the latest firmware with a combination of mk5/nd8. when i unplug my phone to do a manual firmware search, it will not accept my model/serial. sigh :(

Virgin Mobile is currently rolling out the 4.4 KitKat upgrade to its S3 owners via OTA, the roll-out started May 27th and should be completed by June 11th.

My wife's phone was stock and she got the update two days ago. No matter how much I try the manual update it keeps saying my phone is up to date. I have the open source tw for our phones but I don;t know how to compile it or do system dump from her phone... :(

I'm in the same boat with my S3, I'm on stock 4.3 MK5 build and it says my device is up to date. OTA updates are pushed to random devices eventually you will get a notification to update your device. I've tried the "update Samsung software," which doesn't do a thing
