1Ghz processor, 4-inch touchscreen, 8MP camera, all the essentials like GPS/WiFi/3.5mm headset.... will the Xperia X3 be the sickest Android Phone to date when it launches?

I think a few big questions are:

    1) Is 4-inches too big for most people
    2) When will it launch? Other competitors might launch similar spec'd phones by then
    3) How much will it be?
    4) Will SE's build of Android - if they customize the build - work well/quick/fast? You would think so with Snapdragon

I'm hoping for something big here. If Samsung comes out with an OmniaPRO-like Android... which would you prefer? Oh man, this is gonna be fun!

Rob - glad to see you getting active.

I think for me the dealbreaker is keyboard. I like the influence Andy Rubin brought from designing the Danger style keyboard for the Dream/G1. It is very different than the blackberry, pre or even the moto androids.

I am not sure if the ones you refer to have a keyboard, but until they do...I am not going to upgrade. And even then the evolution of the G1 is what I am most interested in, meaning the form factor evolved. G1v2

I dont think 4" is too bit. If anything I think all smartphones should have screens that big. It would make internet browsing a lot easier and a lot of other things would also be easier. I would get it this phone in an instant if it had the Sense UI, without it i think it still looks good but I really like sense (and I don't want some buggy version which has been ported). I might buy it maybe whenever it comes out. But the 4" screen is definitly a plus. The 3.2" ones I don't think are big enough which I think leads to most reviews saying the onscreen keyboard for the Hero and Magic don't match the iPhone (which has a 3.5" screen). 4" screen will make on screen typing a breeze.

But I kind of want a hardware keyboard so I wish in a way they could've made an X1 run Android and release that.

I think if the higher resolution allows landscape keyboard to be on-screen at the same time with the app, it wont be so much of a problem. Especially when using touchpal.

The larger screen size will also make it a lot easier.

Im sure it will be fine typing on the screen i have no problems with it on the iphone, it's just that everyone currently looking for a new phone wants an android phone but one with a physical keyboard. And i prefer it over a touchscreen aswell as its simply more functional.

I know it would just be total speculation at this stage, but for you grizzled smartphone vets out there based on your knowledge of the history of the Xperia phones and Sony's marketing strategy, is there a good chance of this thing being priced for the masses ($249 or less with new contract) and really try to claim some market share , or will it be one of those exclusive high-end devices with it's own little niche? I'm just wondering if with those specs and overall size if they could even afford to sell it for that little.

That's assuming it comes to the US and is subisidized by one of the carriers, unlike that crazy ole N97 that I don't see who would pay all that money for.

Will it have an OLED screen tho?, my guess is that it wont.
It is confirmed to be OLED!

With the November 3rd "announcement" fast approaching and very little to truly reveal, I am really hoping Sony drops a bomb and announces that it will be available in the US very soon. The hardware looks astounding, the specs are equally astounding, now astound us by actually getting it in our hands soon.

For all those saying that the lack of a physical keyboard is an issue, I don't think so. With a 4.1" screen the virtual keyboard is going to be very easy to use. And the lack of a physical keyboard is going to keep the device thin.

Also to the OP above that was concerned about SE's Android build being snappy, the leaked videos look amazingly fluid.

This is the only device that could cause me to cancel my Droid pre-order, Tuesday (11/3) will be very interesting. I have a hunch we are going to see US availability with a carrier and firm date named then.
