Moto Droid Maxx Cases and Accessories

You may not like the decision, but I think they've clearly decided.

It took a long time for Seidio to come out with a case for the Gnex. I got my Gnex on the day it was advertised. I started with the Verizon clamshell holster for at least a month, waiting for Seidio. Then I switched to the Otterbox Defender. I had two break (little clips that hold the Otterbox together are really fragile). Plus I hated the way the defender collects dust under it's screen cover. Finally, Seidio came out with a case. That was at least a 4 month if not 5-6 month delay.

We can still dream and as long as we keep talking about it here, maybe they will listen.

The otterbox build quality has drastically changed. I too came from the gnex. The whole mechanism is different on the Droid Maxx.

Just took a look at my friend's Commuter on his Nexus 4 last night and it's completely different. Way slimmer design than this thing, it's changed drastically. His commuter is way more comparable to the Seidio Active. Soft rubber (so easier to press buttons) and thinner / flatter front bezel so you can swipe across it and touch edges much easier.

Wish the current model was still like this, but this thing is easily twice the weight and bulk of his.

On the plus side, the build quality seems excellent. I have no doubt it will provide excellent protection, and the yellow is cool.

I may try the incipio dual pro, but I tried one on my SIII and hated the cheap feel and slick backing. Considering the commuter is slick as well, I may be willing to give it a shot again if it's substantially less bulky. As it is, I feel like my phone is like the boy in the bubble and I have to put my arms through those slots to use it.

It is less bulky, but not substantially less so. Right now I'm using the Griffin reveal case. Unlike the Commuter, there is no protection for ports, but it is pretty light and the volume and power buttons are easy to press. There is a raised lip around the front edge, but it's slight and doesn't affect touching the screen at all for me. (The Commuter and Dual Pro are sitting in a drawer right now. I just think that they're too heavy and bulky for an already heavy and bulky phone.)

Be careful with the reveal if you take your case off a lot can cause wear marks.

I love my droid maxx but after dealing with its lack of accessories or development, I'm going to do more research before my next device purchase.

I haven't noticed anything like that. I take it off once a week or so, just to clean things out. The kevlar really looks exactly the same as it did when I bought it.

(I do have to say that I have a case not to keep it looking good, but just to protect it from a possible drop. I've only dropped this one once, onto a pile of clothes in a laundry basket as it turned out. But I also wanted something to lift the front a bit for when I place the phone down on a table face-down. The Reveal is also good for that.)

So Seidio. It's been 5 months. How long does it take to decide? I'm still stuck using the only holster option on the market. The crappy Verizon clam shell that doesn't provide any protection, doesn't hold the phone very securely, and doesn't clip on my belt well. Still waiting for you Seidio. Checking all the time for a Seidio Active case and spring holster. Some times late at night I find myself on the internet looking at other hybrid cases and velcro belt pouches. The later it gets the better they look... but all I really want in my life is you Seidio. I'm yours forever Seidio. I've proven my faithfulness for years. Why are you afraid of committing to me?

Hi Gafftaper,

We do not have plans to make the DILEX (formerly ACTIVE) case and holster for the Motorola Droid Maxx, your request will be forwarded to our product team for consideration. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

Whatever you do don't buy Xtremeguard protectors. Even with 90% off... The wet install one isnt compatible with the otterbox defender or Trident cyclops. The display protectors stick to each other.

Then I ordered the HD version and they don't adhere on the edges even without a case.

Now on my Nexus 7 2013 that's a different story.

Here's a new one. Incipio Atlas. Kinda pricey. Mediocre reviews. Interferes with nav keys. Still glad to see my nearly year old carrier exclusive device is getting attention from a great company though!
Incipio Atlas Waterproof Case for Motorola Droid MAXX - Retail Packaging - Black by Incipio Amazon.com: Incipio Atlas Waterproof Case for Motorola Droid MAXX - Retail Packaging - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

I saw this on G+ a month or so ago. The post and comments suggest you may want to stay away from this one.

There is not a wide variety of brand to choose from when looking for a case for the droid maxx, lately I've come to favor Incipio's line of cases. Ive been looking into the incipio atlas case and find out from three different employees that until Motorola gives them the final approval they won't release any to there distributors. Anyone hear anything about this?

and then:

Incipio reps actually said those are genuine but if you purchase any of the handful that made it out you will void any warranty from them.

and then:

So I actually received the Atlas case and I will admit its a damn good protective case, its a shame Motorola didn't authorize final design changes because I'm sure with all the feed back incipio would have streamlined this case. And yes its true the only drawback is the home and multi window buttons are hard to access and the back arrow completely doesn't work! :(

Could we see some pics? There aren't many real world ones.

And there's no holster right?

Do you like the screen protector?

I've purchased Seido products for many years. I've lost all respect for Seidio and I do not anticipate that I would purchase from them ever again. And additionally, I will dissuade everyone I know from purchasing from them. To not support a popular phone like the Maxx is simply mind boggling.
