Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

LS new nightly is out (6/7) with the REAL 4.4.3 merge

The download for this took me a very long time over 3 different wifi Hotspots. I finally up. Maybe it will download faster tomorrow.

Edit
Finally broke down and downloaded it over LTE in about 3 minutes. Using PA 4.4.3 gaps. So far so good.

How's it doing so far Wy?

I've been sticking with Wicked-X and the Sprint ND8 update. The ROM is rock solid stable, guys. No crashes, FCs, lockups or anything. It has a good many mods and more being added all the time. Several themes too. I haven't tried any of the new 4.4.3 builds yet.

I appreciate you guys keeping the thread up to date with what's going on with the ROMs you are testing.

Look at this it's unofficial but apparently sprint and T-Mobile are merging and going to be called softbank USA also says Boost metro pcs and virgin mobile will combine into one structure could be true very interesting http://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/06/sprint-t-mobile-reportedly-merging-softbank-usa.html

Hot digidy damn. Now that IS some serious news. The article says it's pretty much a done deal but still needs to be approved by the FCC and Dept of Justice. Definitely gonna keep an eye on this.
Thanks.

I wanted to share this with all of you. VM user, n00b-xda-disciple shared the following. If this works for him and Sprint users then it should for us as well. :D

I'm sure many of you have heard of setting the multimedia proxy addresses to 0.0.0.0. Well this method goes a little further than that. There are several more changes that are made.

He has screenshots to show his speed tests with the stock settings and then screenshots to show the difference. Other members in the thread report substantial speed increases also.

This is for use with stock based ROMs only.

The hidden menu can be accessed via your dialer. Open the dialer and type in ##DATA#. You will then see VIEW and EDIT. Of course you will need to choose the EDIT option.

Usually the MSL is needed to access the hidden menu. It is not needed on the Wicked-X ROM. It may be needed on other stock based ROMs though.

If you try this on another ROM and you find that you need your MSL the mod in this thread will help you get it-

MSL Utility-

Located under Data Profile- "Revtunneling = disable

Mulimedia Menu - RSTP PROXY ADDRESS=O.O.O.O ----- RSTP PROXY PORT # = O ---- HTTPPD PROXY ADDRESS = 0.0.0.0
HTTPPD PROXY PORT = 0

DSS Menu - PROXY SERVER IP ADDRESS = 0.0.0.0 ------ PROXY SERVER PORT = 0

"

If you do decide to try this, please take a screenshot of the stock settings. Either that or write them down in case you want to revert back to the default settings.

I think some of you may be very interested in these results. I am seeing significant changes in speed and radio signal.

Here's what I did to achieve the results in the screenshots below.

[ROM] Wicked-X with the Sprint ND8 bootloader.

I entered the hidden menu and modified the proxies and made the other changes mentioned in post #1931.

I flashed the Boost NDC modem via Philz recovery. Member, Moonknightus, states that this modem will only work on the ND8 bootloader if you are running a custom kernel. Wicked-X has the custom 4.4.2 KT747 kernel.

I entered the hidden menu again and used the PRL Write feature to change my PRL. I switched to Sprint's PRL# 25019.

:)wavey:) Your MSL is usually needed to enter the hidden menu. Wicked-X did not require it. If you try this with another stock based ROM, you may need it so have your MSL handy. Also, please note that the PRL Write feature is listed under VIEW not EDIT. Yeah, I know.... that makes perfect sense.... NOT!

One more thing....... the stock 4.4.2 ROMs do not have the PRL Write feature. There is a mod that will give you access to it. Bilgerryan went ahead and added it to Wicked-X.

Check these out!!!!

Flashed wicked x v7 since you said out read good, biker.

Immediately noticed the extreme battery drain was fixed. Its actually close to AOSP now! Nice!

I'm glad you guys are having great results. Wicked-X really is a nice ROM. Bilgerryan has done an excellent job putting it together. :)

I've noticed my 3G seems faster much faster with the new PRL. 1.5ish Mbps download here at home when I used to barely get dial up speeds. I actually get the same if not a little faster than when I pick up weak 4G here, so that's nice. I won't be mad when I'm on 3G now. Sometimes I would go sit in my front window to pick 4G up if the power went out here or something. 4G and voice calls seem the same. SMS seem to take longer to send to myself but that could just be the network or because I've been flashing rom after rom after rom lol.

And speaking of I flashed the new CM11 M7 snapshot build last night. It's based on 4.4.2 still for stability I guess. Everything seemed to work just fine on it for the couple of hours I played with it.

Correct on procedure. Or do the NDC .tar. And you'll. Need to flash philz again in Odin.

I haven't noticed a difference in the new modem here in the city. Some have noticed improved in outlying areas though.

Alright I'll do it tonight getting everything set up thanks for the heads up about phillz I didn't know that and what's the difference between the nd8.tar. And ndc.tar
As far as modems I'll have to flash the newest one in recovery with the rom also right?

The modem flashes with the stock firmware. Also, make sure you use the newest version of Odin. It's v3.

Also, it takes a good while for Odin to flash the new firmware. I've heard of it taking up to 14 minutes. Make sure you have a full battery. ;) Don't get worried about it taking so long. I did because no one had said anything about how long it took. I just wanted to let you know ahead of time bro.

You'll flash either the stock Sprint or Boost firmware with Odin and let it reboot into the new stock ROM. You'll then boot back into download mode and use Odin to flash the newest version of Philz.

Just so you know, Knox is unavoidable.

I'm running the newest version of Wicked-X which updated yesterday and love it. If you flash it and MMS doesn't work just flash the Boost APN fix. That'll fix you up. ;)
