Can anybody confirm that the MD5 checksum from the xda-developers link is the correct one?

June 3, 2014
I9100 AOSP NeatROM v5.6(4.4.2) Thanks to @Quuki
MD5 Sum: 0e8131cef097f02bd95c31c8e7312a25

I got a different MD5 but the download zip seems OK.

Thanks,

Note added after posting: problem solved, I was using md5 -s instead of simply using md5... no mismatch in the MD5 sum. Sorry.

Nice one Sasa!

I'm running 4.4.3 on the SGS4 and it is blooming great. Better than 4.4.2 and it fixes a lot of niggling problems. Your 4.4.3 ROM for the SGS2 is out before it is released for anything other than the Nexus and Google Play Edition handsets. Thanks for your continued support old son. :)

Good to see you are still alive buddy :) I'm still hanging with S2 but time to move on soon, just waiting for Sale to get his S5 ;) you stick with S4? One of reasons to move will be definitely NeatRom for S5 so I hope you consider it ;)

Hello Twinn old mate! :)

Still alive! Pickling in alcohol has kept me in good condition. ;)

I shall be giving the Samsung Galaxy S5 a miss as it is, IMHO, not too different from the Galaxy S4. A bit like the S2 and S3 scenario. I am running the 4.4.3 Google Edition firmware/ROM on it and I can assure you that the NEAT 4.4.3 ROM is virtually identical and is brilliant on the S2 in that it does not have all the Samsung and carrier fripperies/bloatware to slow it down.

Some of you on here will also remember my 2 cohorts, Hawker and Syd, and they are both on the pure Nexus firmware as well and have chosen to give the S5 a miss. That is not to say it is a bad phone... just not too different from the S4.

What does amaze me is that with Sasa's 4.4.3 ROM, just how up-to-date and feature filled the S2 is and it can certainly hold its own in the recent smart phone world. As I pointed out previously, only the Nexus and Google Edition phones have had 4.4.3 so far as it was only released about a week ago. All other S3, S4 and S5 users have yet to experience it officially. Actually, the International, i9300, S3 users will NOT be getting a 4.4.3 release, officially.

The only thing that I changed on the S2 was the addition of A Better Camera from the Play Store. I did this on both the S2 and S4 as I felt that the stock camera lacked a few features.

The bottom line is that, having been n the S4 for a year, the S2, thanks to Sasa, is as up-to-date and runs just as smoothly.

I want to strongly urge anyone who has not made a donation to a developer as caring, supportive and knowledgeable as Sasa, to stop leeching off of his undoubted talent and make a donation to him or you will, I can assure you, miss him when he is gone... I know, I do. :bawling:

He has a family to support and bills to pay and equipment needed for this continued support and development.

Just go here and select the, "DONATE TO ME", button underneath his avatar and make a small, or large, donation of a few

First of all, can i say thanks for Ironass for helping me install NeatROM 4.4.3, without your advice i wouldn't of got this far!
I will definitely be leaving a donation to SaleSale for his excellent work, it has transformed my "old" galaxy s2.
I do have a couple of questions, sorry if i am posting in the wrong place! Does anyone recommend installing an anti virus program on handsets these days?

Also, i have noticed that my phone is taking a really long time to charge using NeatROM 4.4.3, its been charging 6 hours now and is only on 77%, this is using a standard wall charger which i know is working fine. I only installed NeatROM last night so can i assume it can take a while for the battery to calibrate? I have read on XDA that there is no point installing any battery saving apps but i might try better battery stats if it will help.

Hope you can advise.

I'm with Sasa 100% on Android anti-virus software. If anything, it can give you a false sense of security. Use Google Play Store apps and do not get them to update automatically but rather, get the notifications and read about the updates prior to installing. I use one app on my phone for clearing out the leftover junk files and detritus that can build up. That is Clean Master, available from the Play Store. It also claims to monitor your downloaded apps and system as well.

Donation sent!

I used to use Avast but as im an ex IT engineer i am always careful what apps i install and never auto update. I will stick with your advice and go without AV.

As im a self confessed noob, is it worth me trying a battery monitor app before swapping kernels? Better battery stats for instance?

Finally, i have only installed a few apps but earlier i had a warning about insufficient storage space. I cant find a way of moving these in NeatROM, so do i need to use Titanium Backup to move apps to my SD card?

Thanks for taking the time to help!

Always remember to keep some nandrid backups on your computer in the unlikely event that you should get any malware. Just Factory Data Reset and restore the backup.

BetterBatteryStats is the big boys toy and is my weapon of choice for determining what is using my battery. It is not for the faint hearted as it does require a certain amount of reading and study but as I always say... "The amount of battery saving you make is in direct proportion to the effort you put into it". See, also, Battery Saving - Dummies Guide

Positive female feedback....now that makes a change.
Usually its more along the lines of:
"Put that away you pervert" or
"What's that smell....is it you?"
:vollkommenauf:

Good to see you too....have a good 'un!
