I want to change wallpaper. I go into stock photos. I view them in full screen. I want to see that full screen as my background. It makes me crop. Even when stretching out, I can only get 1/2 of it max. Why cant it just take the screen exactly how it is and make it my wallpaper?

i went to the wallpaper thread to take their pictures. i used the pits penguin for example. it was perfect. it made me crop it so i couldn't even get the entire logo, then when i set it it blew it up huge and gross.

help!!

are you dragging the corners of the square outwards? You should be able to get most of whatever is in the picture unless it has really elongated proportions.

once i get to the sides it wont let me continue up and town. means that the top 1/3 or so and bottom 1/3 or so are outside of the box when cropped.

that makes no sense, as those photos are the ones people suggested using in the wallpaper thread! and they look perfect on the screen when i'm just viewing them...but cannot make them a wallpaper like that!

That's because people who made backgrounds that are 480x800 didn't know what they were doing. Because the background image translates as you move between home screens in Android, the background image needs to be 960x800, or at least have those proportions. You'll have to add black areas to the left and right of those tall skinny backgrounds people made in order for them to work.

These proportions aren't right for an Android wallpaper (he even says so in his post):

Someone else (DbagDbag) posted the new retro Penguins logo with correct proportions:
