I'm one of those strange people that still listens to local radio and was pleased to see on the VM website that the Volt supports NextRadio. My wife and I purchased two of these phones and I noticed that the NextRadio app wasn't installed on either one. Attempts to install the app from the Play store fail with a message that it is not compatible with the phone.

I sent an email to NextRadio support and their reply was that while the LG Volt does have FM radio capability, Virgin Mobile has disabled the feature on the phones. I then called VM and was told by the "technical support" group that the application should have been pre-installed and that I need to go back to the store I purchased the phones from and exchange them. While it is certainly possible, I'm a little skeptical that I got two bad phones at the same time.

My question is, does anybody with this phone actually have the NextRadio app pre-installed?

Thanks.

if you go to mobile id/virgin mobile thing it should be there. just install the virgin mobile essentials id.

xry75 was on the right track here. I went looking for the Mobile ID app and low and behold, it wasn't there. As a matter of fact, non of the Virgin Mobile apps were installed. I also noticed on the lock screen it said LG instead of Virgin Mobile. Apparently, the initial activation process didn't complete correctly.

I did a factory reset on the phone and this time, everything installed correctly and it says Virgin Mobile on the lock screen. I've got the NextRadio app now but I'm wondering what bloatware came along with it. My wife's phone is the same way mine was before the reset. Since she's not interested in the radio thing, we might just leave her phone as is and see what the differences are.

Thanks for the help.
