Petition! Pouches and Screen Protectors!

A screen protector would be nice not sure why they didn't do that, but in all honestly all of the smartphones I've had the carrying case they came with was impractical and are designed to have to take the phone out of the case to use anyway, so I just ended up buying phone cases that don't impede the use of the phone while keeping it protected, just my 2 cents :).

While this is probably not going to get the results I'm hoping for, I wonder if anyone else is PO'd because the only thing in the box was the phone, charger, and the book.
Did you not see any of the unboxings prior to the release of the phone? Had you, you would have known what was in the box prior to buying.

If anything, you should be pissed we didnt get headphones, but a case and/or a screen protectors just expecting too much imo.

Its not HTC, or Sprints responsibilty to give you stuff to protect your phone. Stuff that most people wouldnt even like or use to begin with. The same that could be said for the headphones, but the only reason I mentioned that was I saw an unboxing of the GSM Hero that had a set in the box.

Had they inclulded a case, Im sure there would be complaints about how cheap, ugly, and/or bland it was and how they could have done better... you get the idea.

On top of that, the screen has a oleophobic coating that works really well. Why would you want to cover that up? To each his own I guess.

Indeed this was a little shocking/irritating to me.
My touch pro had a screen protector, case, and extra stylus...

oh well it was also half the price of my tp

and you do have to give htc credit for the 2GB memory card

Sprint inlcuded the following with the Touch Pro.
-AC phone charger
-USB sync cable
-Mini-USB stereo headset
-1 GB microSD card
-Battery
-Multifunction audio cable
-Pouch
-Extra stylus
-LCD screen protector
-Getting Started CD
-Get Started Poster, Basics Guide, Set Up Your Email Guide, and Experience SprintSpeed Brochure

Your correct, not their responsibility, but for a phone that retails for $475, it would have been nice for them to include few accessories that I am sure costs them pennies to produce.

I still use the HTC branded case that come with my touch pro.

I have already purchased $30 worth of accessories for my Hero, so yeah I am a little disappointed.

Have you found a case like this for the Hero? I've been looking for a case that covers the screen but that I can flip open to use without removing it from the case.

did you not notice the screen has a coating already? how bout the body? its coated too. I havent scratched mine yet. I actually bought a screen protector for mine before knowing the screen was coated. it sucked having the screen protector on. it didnt stay on long. I also bought a silicon case..i used it for a couple days...i like the phone bare alot more.

I agree it should have came with a pouch just like the Pre. I don't know about anyone else but when I first get a new phone I am super paranoid about getting any scratches, nicks, etc. The pouch that my girlfriends Pre came with does have a nice suede feel to it, and I would feel a lot better about carrying the phone in my pocket with a nice pouch like that.

I don't for a moment understand this thread at all. You want all this and to pay next to nothing for the phone to boot. Average is $99 for the savy shopper, the Touch Pro cost how much out of the gate? Come on... I prefer to spend the additional money they would have charged to include throw away items on accessories of MY choice, not the junk they'll give ya.

I paid near retail price for the phone. For $400, I would have liked to get a pair of headphones. My wife's Moment, which retails for ~$50 less than the Hero, came with headphones. I stole hers, because she never uses them. I shouldn't have had to, however.

Then Sprint was being VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY generous. You should not, however, expect all of that stuff, or even half of it in the future.

The most you should expect is the handset, battery, charger, instructions of some type, and a data cable. Headphones only if it's not a standard port. The rest of the things mentioned here may only cost them "pennies" to produce, but if you really think they include that stuff without also tacking on more $$ to the cost, you're not from this planet. If you paid close to retail for the phone then you're a) not yet eligible for a discount b) your carrier doesn't do discounts, or c) not signing/extending your contract -- in which case, that's even LESS incentive for the merchant to include "extras".

I posted about the lack of a case here earlier before I even bought the Hero. I bought the hero today at Best Buy. Since I already had Sprint I could not get the phone for $99, it was the $179.99 which I was prepared to pay. The Best Buy rep says "you have two choices you can buy the phone for $179.99, or you can buy it at the $99 sale price and buy $80 worth of accessories." It was a no brainer, I bought a glove style rubber case for it, a 8GB SD card, and a card reader and paid the same price. This was my Christmas present to myself and I got a lot more presents than I bargained for. :D

Nice!

I was a new Sprint customer so I got mine for $99 plus a Jabra BT headset, OEM HTC skin, and a car charger...all for free :D

No smartphones come with screen protectors. However, most do come with some sort of case. Boo HTC for not including a cheapo case
