4.4 Update Discussion And Issues HERE !!!

I inadvertently got the update last night, AT&T note 2.

So far, I actually love it. Much faster, no lag in the user interface, everything seems to work well.

I'm not sure how I lucked out in terms of having the magic combination, but wanted everyone to know that it isn't necessarily all bad...

nice, one of the lucky ones perhaps.

things i now experience since the upgrade:

battery drain in a day
battery charge taking 8-10 hrs.
device reboot mid-use
device lag

coincidence or related to the upgrade? either way = unimpressed

Have you used your camera yet? Try it, and then watch your batteryusage. Look for Wifi, Blutooth, phone call disconnecting, random restart etc. Those are some of the problems experienced.

We get it, the update sucks for you and a few others but the good and bad of Android is not everyone uses their phone in the same manner and everyone's phone is different. What sucks for one may be great for another. But at least pointing out some of the problems will help others so thanks.

I'm with Bell Canada... and I did get an update last week, after I just did a hard reset on my phone (re: my battery issue thread). I did not notice any crazy battery drainage as my battery is already pretty crap, so I cannot comment on that.
Location thing is really annoying... I don't understand why they did this change.
I can't hide all the apps I want anymore... and where is the app disabling thing?
I also did get my phone randomly restart in the middle of me filming something during a festival... which let me tell you annoyed the hell out of me.
I don't really know what else has changed... but I am sure I will soon find out

No, it is not for me and a few others. It also sucks for android, they try to do something about it, but have not succeeded yet. I don

I'm rooted using an aosp rom, Omnirom variant, I don't have any such problem stated above with 4.4.4 and I didn't have any trouble prior with 4.4.2 or 4.4.3. So this makes me believe it's more the app developers, Samsung or the Note 2. Not Android

Why would Android try to fix the camera, WiFi, Bluethooth and soforth, thirty something bugs, if it is third party apps causing the problems?

If you are rooted and run a custom rom it's a wole different ballgame, you can't speak for problems for people with stock set up.

That's my point, I'm running the stock android os and I'm not seeing any of these issues.

Thanks though for keeping people abreast of potential and current issues, it's better to keep people informed.

I don't understand what you are saying here. If it is that there is no problems with 4-4-2, just take a look at some of the links I posted and you will see there is a shitload of bugs.

So I got back from holiday last friday and as soon as I connected to wifi the update started downloading. I put it off for a while by clicking 'Later' rather than installing but eventually gave in.

So far, so good.

Immediately checked the camera and all appears to be working ok. I sent a file via bluetooth to my wife's phone and again, no issues.

I did have a scare where I seemingly couldn't write to or amend files on my SD card but after doing a bit of research online it looks like the problem was with Astro not playing nicely with 4.4, so I'm now using the built-in 'My Files' app and all seems fine again.

Not really noticed a huge difference if I'm honest. The keypad on the lockscreen (to enter my pin code) is smaller and more squashed up, which is a bit annoying for one-handed use, but I can live with that. I also don't have the option for a camera shortcut on the lockscreen?

If anything I think my battery might have improved slightly. I unplugged it at 98% on Friday evening, updated to Kitkat Saturday morning, and didn't charge it again until Sunday morning when it was down to about 13%....even with a good amount of usage on Friday night and Saturday.

4.4.2 is the WORSE Android OS ever! Glad to finally find out what the problem is - battery usage - as it confirms my suspicions. 4.3 was perfect, stable, and never problems. After 4.4.2 all kinds of problems - Bluetooth is useless even with other Samsung Devices (I have a Samsung Note2). While playing music, the music speeds up and slows down and starts dragging. Although the update may look good, the bottom line is that it has too many features that the phone just simply won't handle, and the result is that it makes full functionality of the phone impossible. I use this phone for business, so to have an update crash a phone this severely with problems is unacceptable. There should be a fast, easy and convenient way to remove the update and go back to 4.3, which Samsung says is impossible. Google, shame on you for putting out an Android version that simply does not work. Samsung, shame on you for putting the update out there without fully testing it on all current Samsung devices. And AT&T, shame on you for placing all the blame on Samsung and Google! As customers and people who are paying for services and products, what is needed is a class action lawsuit to put an end to us being victimized by developers who are not properly testing their software!!!!! Lawyers, where are you and let's get this going!

Update, read another forum on this site : http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...nge-extremely-dropped-after-4-4-2-update.html

See my last answer - went to applications manager>all and turned off everything I didn't need - camera, weather, everything. Improved my range on Motorola headset, but Samsung ear piece still won't work correctly.

There are LOTS of posts about the problems and no one has done anything to fix it, so I think we should all do a class action lawsuit against Samsung and perhaps that will get their attention. There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be able to hard reset your device back to a previous operating system that worked perfectly!

I'm more than a month in with the new firmware, and still very happy with it. Battery life is good, Bluetooth works great, headphones work great. I'm still not seeing any of the issues that others are reporting.

The only issue I have seen is that sometimes the phone fails to connect to the lte data network. Going into and out of airplane mode clears this up.
