Wireless charging?

Ok so I went to the local ATT store and got the Samsung wireless charging cover for my Verizon S5. They were the only place that had it locally. It works fine with the TYLT charger and the one from Ebay that AZgl1500 bought.

The Belkin air bumper case fits fine around it. I discovered that the DILEX Holster for the S5 from Seidio works with S5 combined with the Belkin bumper.

Looks like I have a new case/holster combo until they start making cases specifically for the wireless charging back.

How's the placement on the Tylt Vu with the Samsung back? I have the Vu Mate receiver card, and with that you have to have the phone hanging about a 1/2 inch off the right side of the Vu in order for it to charge.

I usually place my S5 in the landscape position when charging at night because I have a clock radio app that I use at night. I center the S5 on the TYLT and it charges fine no problems. With the Vu mate it was a little more position sensitive.

I'd just wait for the official back from Samsung, that way you know you're still waterproof

I went wireless a few weeks ago. I got the Tylt Vu wireless charger, the Tylt Vu-Mate receiver card, and the iOttie car dock.

The Vu-Mate did cause a slight bulge in the back of the phone and it looks like the spot just below the heart rate meter is not completely sealed. I would doubt the phone was still water resistant. From the start I had a lot of problems getting the phone to charge. Placing the phone centered on the Vu would result in a red/green blinking light. Finally found a sweet spot with the phone hanging about a half inch off the right of the Vu. Even then the phone would tend to flash in and out of charging toward the end of the cycle and I would have to be very careful that the phone was actually charging. Most times it would take two or three tries placing the phone to get it to start. The iOttie was also difficult to find the sweet spot and it would barely keep up with the battery drain of running the GPS. The phone would also get very hot on both. With the iOttie I had to point an AC vent at the phone to keep from getting the overheating warning with the GPS running.

After confirming with Slomo26 that the OEM back worked better with the Vu I ordered one of those. I received it on Friday and it is night and day how much better it works than the Vu-Mate. I can place the phone about anywhere on the Vu and it starts charging right away. The screen blinking is gone at the the end of the charge cycle and the phone only gets mildly warm now. With the iOttie the charger can easily charge the phone even with the GPS running and there is no overheating now. I also found the the slightly thicker back makes the phone easier to hold for me.

So the Vu-Mate receiver card will be returned and the OEM back is the choice for me.

As for the Vu and the iOttie, both are excellent wireless chargers, and I would recommend them.

Great thread guys/gals! its a bit confusing as to what to buy, so, please let me know which one comes "complete" with the charging pad and battery card and doesnt overheat and I'm getting it today then, thanks again...Jake

I didn't bother Reading alle the posts in this thread so pardon me if I'm writing something alreaddy written.

Today I got this:

It fit inside the original cover of the S5 With a slight bulge as the result. The phone still fits inside mye Otterbox Defender and Trident Kraken. What really amazes me is that the Choetech charger charges the phone through both cases. How long it will take from empty to full I don't know but since I only charge during the night I really don't care. The only issue I am slightly concerned about is if the phone will overheat when QI charging With the cases on. I have charged the phone With a cable while using the Defender without issues but I don't know wheather QI charging produces more heat. I Guess I will find out when the house burnes Down.

I've been using a generic Qi charging kit with my S5 for a couple of months. I have a hard case on the phone and it does get warm while charging, but nothing extreme. As long as yours is working properly I don't think you need to worry it will burst into flame I often leave the phone on the pad overnight. The phone stops charging automatically and is cool the touch when I pick it up in the morning.

Charging with the wire works OK for me after installing a wireless receiver inside the phone.

The charging cards will sill let your phone stay in a case.
They will get a little hot but I have had no problems with overheating.
They keep the phone water RESISTANT but not waterproof.. I washed and sprayed my phone with this card in with no issues but when I dunked it it filled up with water so remember that (I had dunked it before the charge card with no problems) on a positive note the S5 seems pretty resilient and managed to recover completely after a day in some rice.
The charging pad will work fine with any Qi Charger.
The cards cost about $12 and the pads can be had for $8+
You can charge with either wireless or wired.

The official OEM wireless charging back is thicker than the standard case as well as ticker than the stock case with a charging pad.
It likely won't fit in most cases meant for an S5.
It doesn't seem to work with any of my cheap chargers or works very sporadically.
The OEM charger is very nice but costs around $45 and the back can run from $35 - $50, they also sell kits.
The OEM charger will tell you when it's not lined up properly by flashing an orange light.
Apparently the Belkin Bumper is the best option for a case when using the OEM back.
I haven't been brave enough to dunk it again since I got this new case but it washed with no problems and the seals seem thicker and more raised than the original case and it's an OEM product so I would expect it to retain it's waterproof abilities.

just got my powerboat charging station and wireless charging receiver that fits on top of my batter underneath the case. you can barely tell that its there and it charges great!! im going to by another charging station for home now

Tylt Qi Built-In Wireless Charger Receiver, Energy Card for Samsung Galaxy S 5
Good looking stand charges pretty quick of course not as fast as using the usb 3.0 but alot faster then I expected, it also let's me put the phone in a horizontal position but probably the best thing is that it still charegs through my Spigen Slim Armor Case reviews even say it charges through otterbox cases

Is this the thinnest card out there?

I sure like the price better. It looks similar to the one I bought for my Nexus 5, but of course I didn't have to modify the Nexus.
