Help Voice Dialing Not Working on the Sprint Hero

Anyone else experiencing problems with the voice dialing application? Whenever I attempt to use it, the dialog box comes up and says it's listening but nothing happens, it just closes despite being instructed to dial, call or open. However, the voice search application works beautifully.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated, but I'd love a solution!

I was about to post about this same thing. I have had it work exactly once and it got the name right on the first try. Every other time it either times out or switches to the "Dial a number screen" with a list of numbers.

My Voice Dialer works, pulls up 3 or 4 numbers to call and then I place call.. o keep getting this "Sorry The Process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. please try again and then the Force Close.Could someone help with that? Thanks. Thinking of dumping all downloaded App's. And start again. Cd28rc@gmai.com

Because they are on different OS's, hardware platforms, and most likely not even coded by the same people. The TP's wasn't all that grand either. It constantly got what I wanted wrong. Of course it would be nice if this one got anything at all.

Hahahaha that's rich. I love almost everything about my Hero. The voice dialer sucks and there's an issue with the built-in messaging app causing battery problems. I wouldn't go back to my TP if you paid me. I will however complain about the stuff that doesn't work because that's how stuff gets fixed. The squeeky wheel gets the grease. So, no, it's not as simple as that. The voice dialer is a piece of crap which is laughable because the voice search works like a charm. And I'll whine about it until they fix it.

Yeah, voice search is awesome but something is messed up with voice dialing.... MS voice command on the touch pro rocked for me, but the hero destroys the touch pro overall. 15+ yrs on PPC/Winmo and it barely evolved.

I finally know how to speak so it understands me it just tales forever to figure out what I said. It says still listening 20 seconds after I speak nut eventually gets it right.

I say the word call them wait longer than normal to say the name. Also for some reason I was talking loudly into the mo . What I do now is speak slow and relaxed. Works for me.

Also there needs to be complete silence I'm the background. Any noise and it just doesn't work.

Voice dial sucks on the Sprint HTC Hero and that's a fact. This is the forum for the HTC Hero and I suspect people are going to complain about the things that are wrong and tout the things that are right. Answering someone with what amounts to "Shut Up!" isn't going to solve the problems with the things that do suck about the phone. Sometimes solutions are posted, like the broken internal messaging app, and sometimes there isn't an obvious solution, like the present thread and people commiserate over their shared issues. And sometimes we just whine about what we don't like. I want to the voice dialer to work and it doesn't. It's broken. I will voice my feelings about this on this and other forums because the more voices that are out there the faster it will get fixed. I don't want to dial the numbers by hand. I WANT THE ADVERTISED FEATURES TO WORK. And they don't. If that's too much for you to swallow then you can get bent for all I care. If someone you have never met can post on a forum for a phone they own complaining about a broken feature and ruin your day then you have bigger problems than the broken voice dialing on the Hero and might should consider finding some help rather than trying to bully people online because most of us just giggle at folks like that.

That's where I'm at but I keep hoping someone has figured out there's a setting we all missed and posts it or HTC gives us a fix for it. I like voice dial for driving and right now I keep wanting to throw my phone out the window onto I-10.

I am still trying everything I can think of to make the voice dialer work and it is still mocking me. Die voice dialer app...die...

Hey guys I also thing the voice sucks balls, but it's amazing how well the Voice search works, I would think they use the same technology but apparently not.... My suggestion for any coders or HTC or sprint is to make the voice dialer use the same tech as google voice search and also make an option to record the name if for some reason it just never understands a certain contact maybe due to pronunciation or something.

oh and to the guy calling people whiners, just leave, thats what the forums were made for! for us to whine and hope that someone fixes it... duh thats the beauty of android, OPEN so ANYBODY can fix a problem we are all having

No i have not been able to make it work with Bluetooth. It actually doesnt work for me at all. Not sure why. it just sucks. i dont even try and use it anymore.
