LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

I just want to say something here. I'm not a moderator here, anymore, so I have zero authority or creds. However, I do want to say that we welcome ALL sides and ALL points of view, here, as long as they're stated in a reasonably reasonable manner. Let's say Rush brings up negative reviews of the G3, personally, I want to know about them. The more information I have the more of an informed decision I can make. I'm not criticizing anyone, I'm just trying to encourage informative debate. I do profit from it and want to thank everyone for all points of view on this device. Moreover, I want to thank you for the rest of the time we have on this thread before it closes out in a week or so.

Thanks for listening!

I saw the s5 yesterday at the store. Cold my wife from yes 5 you can meet the 5s and the Droid Maxx. Well I said the call quality of the s5 was terrible and the m8 was good or better. Surprisingly, she said the iPhone call quality was not good, as was the motorola. Call quality and battery life are very important to me because I use the phone for business. I'm going to go back to the store because I hear the s5 has a call quality improvement setting. I'm going to try that. I am leaning toward the LG because of the battery size. I'm also worried about s5 and the m8 only having two gigabytes of ram. Leaning toward the lg.

Perhaps wait? Then again if you are a lighter user, the G3 should be a nice device. 2gb ram is not a problem for 1080p devices, so would not be a concern with the M8 and S5. It is not with the S4.

If you are a heavy user and not a gamer, the S5 (only 10gb free) is a very good device and a much better fit than the G3 due to the display overhead with the G3. A little easier one hand use too.

One point though is if on Verizon, reports of M8 weaker signal compared to other devices like the S4, S5 and iPhone could be a concern. Especially since the S4 and S5 are not signal champions themselves. S5 is better than my S4 though. Not sure why the M8 appears to have weaker signal, but other carriers not seeing much issues reported. Opposite appears more the case for the others.

The G3 for me reminds me of the US verses Belgium. Why all the cross passes on your own side of the pitch when you could have just kicked it toward the other goal for the last 30 seconds? At least LG had a reason for their egregious performance killing decision.

Rush,

This is the most enjoyable part of having a phone for me... shopping. I don't mean to put my friends through my twists and turns, but this is my fun. It's my hobby enjoyment. :)

Edit: ur right about gaming on the S5.. My son is gamer and does nintendo emulation on his and it purrs.

Me? I need the perfect phone. I SHOULD be ready to buy in saaaaay 2020? :p

Probably to clear out inventory already before the Prime hits in Late August/early September ;). I kid :)

Being a fellow verizoner (is that even a word ) I never get my hopes up for a verizon prime anything. Have they ever released a prime version of anything ? Not to mention the boatload of phones that they never even carried.
The day is soon approaching in my area that VZW may not have a monopoly in coverage and that may just open up a few new opportunities.

VERIZONER or VERIZONISTA are equally gramatically correct.....:D

Why would Verizon run a $99 deal on the G3 at launch? Doesn't make sense......unless the G3 Prime is "in the pipeline" as Tim Cook would say. I'm starting to get a bad feeling.

I'm a heavy user...so I'm guessing the G3 wouldn't stand a chance against me lol? Battery life is not an issue with me since its removable. My concern is that QHD screen. I'm reading it gets very hot.

I don't know. I'm also unconcerned about battery. I CAN say that my personal M7 gets BLAZING hot when under heavy use, like games or navigation, and my work S4 gets very hot when under heavy use and charging, to the point it stops charging to cool down frequently. They M7 never stops charging, probably the superior thermal exchange of the metal, but it feels like you can fry an egg. I think most phones get hot, and while the extra real estate and pixels will add some to that, I just can't believe it will be to a magnitude of a deal breaker.

That said, I've been wrong before once or twice.

Its not just the G3. Its basically all their phones. S5, m8, ect.

2 GB ram is so not an issue on the M8.

As above, more pixels and more os processing requires more ram.

Not even Sense + user apps needs it though.

TRUE DAT!

Anyone picking up the G3 in-store should at least take a look @ the M8 & experience this 1st hand before leaving the store.

Not trying to sway anyone one way or the other, but,if you want to get a perspective on what a smooth/glitchless experience is,take a look @ the M8 & compare it to anything available.

If it were just the G3 on sale, I'd agree, but it sounds like a whole bunch of stuff is on sale. I don't think that it's harbinger of a G3 Prime.

If you look at the sale items:

G3 maybe a G3 Prime coming
Note 3 ...Note 4 coming
M8...M8 Prime cancelled, maybe
Galaxy S5...maybe a S5 prime coming
Iphone 5s...Iphone 6 coming

The other items, M7, Moto X, Galaxy S4, you can't give away. Folks, this is an end of cycle sale.

So you're claiming EOL on a phone that hasn't launched yet (in the US), a tablet that hasn't launched yet (anywhere), a phone that launched in March and one that launched in April?

Time to go find a good "not sure if serious" meme.......

Tempting... now if you did a belly dance, that would probably seal it for me. :p

You're laboring under the misconception that I'm trying to sell you a phone.

I have no dog in your new phone fight.

I'm simply trying to act as an honest information broker, stating facts as facts and opinions as opinions. ;) :)

And I must not be a heavy user after all, mine has yet to heat up.
