LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

As usual, Verizon took a while to decide on when to start selling the LG G3. Today they finally put LG's latest flagship device up for pre-order. The G3 will be available for purchase on July 17th, but right now you can pre-order it online for $99.99.

Who told you you could post here? Huh? HUH? Stupid machine.

If the US versions perform as well (follow the link within that link for the updated review of the UK model), this looks like a really solid win for a lot of owners, and a win not only for LG but also Android.

I'm sure some are worn out by reviews so here's my review of the review -

It's glowing but seems fair and balanced without throwing rocks to sound objective.

It's low on tech and high on the basic user (not dummy user) point of view.

I wish more phone reviews were like that one. Tell me what you think personally and why in a way that invites me to check it out for myself.

Do I agree or believe everything said?

I never do! :D

But this time I didn't feel like I needed a shower after a dirty sales pitch.

And now I want to check one out just for fun, whereas the other write-ups burned me out. :)

Thanks Steven, good catch!
EM, me be stunned that you refer to a Stuff review that appears to have the substance of nutrasweet icing :)

This ain't the EM I have read..... Did a LG sales person jack your account? ;)

If this baby had the 805 to manage the to fire all them pixels, and manage the battery, I'd pre-order. As of now, I am all: gotta wait for it to the store so I do a firsthand looksee.

As I wrote earlier.. this is joy to me. :)

Just to show you some support, I think you are definitely approaching it the right way. Slow and steady is the way to go nowadays. Mobile tech is way too fast nowadays. Only reason I jumped from the Note 2 to Note 3 was really the 32gb internal. I am just waiting on 64gb to be offered for a phone with microSD, which is why I will likely wait until 2015 for my primary line upgrade.

Not at all and I meant that - most reviews are just fluff by the unwashed acting pretentious.

Here was a good, subjective review that didn't seem to me to pretend otherwise.

I put that together with Anandtech tests and I think it's kind of a parallax view.

You yourself postulated that this would be a good phone for not heavy users - there's the same conclusion from someone who's tried two copies.

Caution - last word I thought I saw was T-Mobile and AT&T closing the towelroot exploit...

More caution - don't accept update after turning on phone.

Also, check AndroidForums and XDA for updates on rooting your specific carrier of the G3

Qft, well said!

^^^^
The exploit blocking update is probably tagging along w/this keyboard update:

LG's smart keyboard for the G3 gets smarter with latest update | Android Central

Of course, with such matters, there will not be a mention of it,other than the usual "Stability/Security" bug fixes, nothing specific naming root exploit.

My T-Mo G3 should be arriving any moment from now until 6:00 P.M. EDT,I'll check what's on-board.

Until recently I hadn't modded a phone other than aftermarket apps/etc...,no root/ROMS in a couple years.

I really dig LG's U/I,however,as all mfgs do,they'll leave some features on the cutting room floor that can only be obtained by root/ROM's /etc. & settling for a stock/locked experience long-term just doesn't cut it anymore.

Even if the Towelroot exploit is blocked,I'm confident someone will discover another method sooner rather than later......
