So the Verizon salesman told me to wait for the iPhone...

I was at the Verizon store yesterday checking out the Droid Incredible for the first time. I'm a current Curve 8330 user and my NE2 upgrade isn't until July, but I wanted to at least get an early look at the DI because it will likely be my next phone. I was super impressed with the responsiveness and overall features of the phone. Web browsing was a pure pleasure on it. It blows my Curve out of the water in many impressive ways. I've never owned a touchscreen phone before, so texting/typing on it will take a little time to get comfortable with. The only thing I may miss from my Curve is the physical keyboard which is extremely accurate and a joy to use.

After playing with the phone for a bit, a sales guy comes up to me and I explain that I'm just browsing because I won't be upgrading my phone for a few months. He said I should wait for the Moto Droid 2 and the new Droid phone coming out from LG (can't recall the name of it) to compare to the Incredible even though he loved the Incredible (he's a current Moto Droid owner). He also said that if I could hold out a little longer than July, that I should wait for the new iPhone to hit Verizon. I told him that I thought that was all just speculation/rumor at this point. He said no, and that it's been confirmed that the iPhone will be selling in Verizon stores before the end of this year. I kind of just chuckled but he gave me a serious look and said the same thing again. I still have my doubts but I thought I'd pass the info along. Maybe others have been hearing the same thing.

That maybe true, because i think about a month ago, WSJ said that their will 2 iPhones coming out this year, one for AT&T and one for Verizon and that they would be different phones.
I like the iPhone because it is simple and that is why most people like it. But i like to go in depth with things and knowing that i can do ANYTHING i want with Android, iPhone itself is good, but once you use the Android there is no going back. Its like this; you have an Infiniti G37 fully loaded, it is an awesome car. but once you drive a Lamborghini, there is on going back to an Infiniti!!!

I think you should get an Android phone. My sister has had the Droid for a few months and i loved it, but the Incredible blows that thing out of the water and i am just loving Android with each passing day! There is SO MUCH you can do on Android today that you wont be able to do on the iPhone, EVER.

Unless iPhone 4G is WAY more opensource I couldnt care less if the iPhone comes to Verizon now. I havent seen any of my friends who own iPhones since I got my DI but Im excited to battle head to head. Id take the DI over an iPhone any day. Front facing camera... you can have that one Steve.

Ok so what are you asking. A pointless debate of iphone vs htc? no thanks.

Huh? A debate? Not at all. I was merely passing along information. I said in my post that the DI would likely be my next phone. I complimented it. I'm not foolish enough to come to an Android forums website and praise the iPhone. I don't want a debate. I was only curious if any other Verizon stores out there were voluntarily giving out the same information as I received. I didn't ask about the iPhone...the salesman brought it up on his own.

But when the iphone 4g comes out late this summer the same Verizon employees will tell you to wait for the new HTC to come out a few months later which will have 45nm snapdragon running at 1.3ghz and can overclock to like 2ghz.... Yes these 45nm HTC units are coming.

You will never get a phone....

Android 2.1 (and soon to be 2.2) > Iphone OS4

Point taken, but why would employees tell any potential customer to wait for anything? Isn't their job to sell phones and plans and accessories as often/quickly as they can? I'd like to think that Verizon employees would be discouraged to give out information that is purely a rumor. I will wait until July when it's my time to upgrade, and then I'll check out what's available at that time. I'm still heavily leaning towards an Android device and 99% sure I'll be leaving my Crackberry behind thanks to all the good reviews and information I've gotten from this site.

There will NOT be a VZW IPhone this year and by the time they get it - Android will be fully capable of going toe to toe with them as they are just about now ...

As pof NOW Apple tells you how to use your phone - I know I have had one for years ...it's a dated tech- living off the greatness of Safari and HepticTouch - other than that , there's not much to the IPhone.

As an adult in his late 30's I find most of the APPS childish and for teens - I use like FOX, MLB , EuroSoccer Report that's about it ...

If you're 35-45 yrs of age and your playing COD2 on your phone - you need to visit the life store for a new suit ...

Many salespersons, in most industries,do NOT have inside scoop. I was told inaccurate info at vzw store & with rep via phone. I know more info about thier service and products than they do!! And thats not saying much!! Apple has not made an annoucement, YET. Major Apple annoucement late June. I believe Apple wont waste their time on a VZ 3G phone. They'll wait until spring 2011 & unviel a VZ 4G Iphone. Everyone with VZW has always been very nice to me, but mostly very uniformed about their products and service.

I switched from BB Curve to DI. Incredible is the right word. I thought typing would be hard on a virtual keyboard. Wrong. Actually after 1 day, I am typing faster and more accurate w the virtual keyboard.

It does take some getting used to since the phone is so customizable, you can do almost anything.

I know have a main screen for Work, and several other screens used for social media, weather, Favorites, bookmarks, etc.

You can wait forever, and go insane doing it. By the time the iPhone comes out(if it ever does) on Verizon, you will already by 12 months+ into your contract and wondering why you would even need an iPhone.

I agree with other posters.... The DI did not exist or was not acknowledged until 3 weeks before the phone was available, how would some VZW Clerk know about it 8 months in advance. ridiculous!!!!

Ah... more iphone bashing. More proof that the iphone owns you all. lol im a fanboy tho.

Why does this creepy boy keep stalking the Incredible forums trying to promote Apple? I've seen him do it like 5 times.

Get out you are just weiiird. Can we place forum restraining orders? How much does apple pay you a post? 35 cents?

You are the true troll of android forums.

I think the iPhone speculation is a "CDMA" iPhone, not Verizon as the carrier. It can easily go to SprintPCS.

Honestly, for those dis'in the iPhone, what it comes down to is the fact that IF Verizon got the iPhone, they'd make a profit and gain new customers. That's all it comes down to. The market is still strong for the iPhone.. which should adopt the slogan "So simple a Caveman can use it"

Don't know when vzw will get the iphone but it will get it someday. And when it does come to vzw, it will be the number one selling smartphone (or #2 behind blackberry).

If there's a moto droid 2 coming anytime soon, it might be worth the wait, mostly since it's the 2nd gen of an already great phone.
how soon? more info?
