Buying a used S4 - what should I know?

Hi there, I'm considering buying a used Verizon Galaxy S4 and I'm trying to determine what are the key points to know.

I am seeing a lot of discussion about the different bootloaders, different kernels, different android versions, etc. It seems like some phones cannot have the bootloader unlocked and some phones can't even be rooted. Can anyone explain that to me so I know what I should be looking for?

In addition, are there any especially pervasive hardware or software bugs that haunt the S4?

Thanks!

Hi kwest! I've had my S4 for a few months now and I really like it. I haven't seen any bugs. My phone is rooted and as long as you know what you're doing and read through instructions on things you should be fine. I had the S3 before it and in my opinion the S4 is a nice upgrade.

Now I don't know about the Verizon edition but what I can suggest is for you to head over to the Verizon S4 root section and take a look at root methods. There are some really helpful people on here who can guide you through the process of rooting, unlocking bootloaders and finding good roms. You can find out a lot of info there. Everyone is here to help out whenever you need it :)
