Help LG G3 & Miracast

In defense of the G3, I rarely have found Miracast work very well in general. Seems too many conflicts to make it work as intended so far. Would have preferred micro hdmi out, but different companies are trying to secure different standards as becoming THE standard so everyone can pay the patent owner royalties for including the tech in their device.

HDMI out is cool :)

I like not having to deal with cords. It really sucks that they made such a great phone & shorted us on the quality of Miracast. Hopefully they'll improve it with the next update.

I downloaded the update but when I place the PTV3000 in update mode my phone doesn't even recognize it so I can't get the update to the receiver.

Freaking A.

Your phone has NOTHING to do with the update of the PTV3000.

Read the instructions on the Netgear website.

here, here, I got it 4 u :D

1. Use your laptop or mobile device to visit
www.netgear.com/ptv and download new firmware.
2. Press and hold the Push2TV side button for 7 seconds
3. On your laptop or mobile device, find and connect to the Push2TV WiFi network name (SSID).
4. Open a browser and type http://192.168.3.1 in the URL bar.
5. Upload the firmware and install it.

Good luck.

I tried that today & still had no luck so I contacted Netgear. They gave me 2 links & said if my device isn't listed there it won't work. Since you're having no problems I'm calling bs on them!

That's certainly bs, those folks have no slightest idea what they are talking about.

So what was the problem? Were you able to connect to the wifi network that PTV3000 creates when in the update mode?

I was able to connect via my laptop. In the past I've been able to do it from my phone as well. It's one of the options in the update instructions. The Galaxy S4 is not on their list & I was able to use it without any problems.

so..did you upgrade the firmware and still have problems?

if the answer is yes, I hate to say it, but it might be the hardware problem of your G3.

I have a Miracast dongle that I put on my HDTV and use it to mirror live sport games from my phone and to play some apps of games that all I have to do is tap the screen, but I love the better picture using my Chromecast.

They now have a screen mirror feature to screen mirror to a Chromecast using the screen mirror baked in feture on phones. I use an old S3 phone and Chromecast hasn't added the mirror screen feature for my phone yet but some of the newer phones do.

There are a lot of apps for Chromecast that will let you cast your media files, like pictures and music and videos to the Chromecast. We download our shows and cast them to our Chromecast. Give Chromecast a try for $35. It's just like my Miracast, it's a dongle with an HDMI end and a power input. It also lets you cast YouTube and Netflix and Crackle, oh yeah and some game apps. There are a bunch of apps for Chromecast and I simply love it better than Miracast.

Unfortunately Chromecast requires a wifi connection & I don't have wifi. I was aware they've made some updates to allow screen mirroring but haven't actually tried the new features yet.

This is one thing that I just love! So I'm not one of those people that have cable or dish for TV. Really all I do is use netflix or watch shows from my phone. With the LG G3 phone you can set up Miracast to your LG Smart TV. This will allow you to stream anything that is on your phone to your TV. So I can stream my games, my Sunday Ticket, or anything! Don't even need to get up because your phone IS your remote! Without cable this is the perfect option for me! As long as you have a qualifying LG TV (Usually any of the smart TVs, or newer TVs with Miracast enabled) you can use this service for free! I will show a video to demonstrate it below! I hope you all enjoy!

I've been using it the last couple of days and I must say, it works great! No sacrificing the picture quality or anything, just sync up and watch / play whatever you want from your phone, to your TV.
