Reasons why u chose the g3 over other flagship phones.

my main reason i got the LG G3 is i was tired of Samsung products, i have been with them since the Samsung epic 4g that came with the flip out keyboard. just got the LG G3 this morning as my plan was up for a upgrade today. i would Deffinitely recommend the phone to everyone and for those coming from a samsung product this screen and brightness are pretty much the same as the samsung. i see no difference in brightness comparing the 2. i was previously on the galaxy s3.

I'm really torn between the G3 and the note 3. I can't decide. My battery has gotten a little better with knock turned off but freezes because of it. I love the screen on the G3. I play all my games and videos in it. I'm using the Note for calls and texts and normal browsing. I'm not a huge fan of the on screen home keys. I know you can turn them off for specific apps but it still bugs me a little. The camera is awesome on both. Having a little trouble with the G3 sliding out of my hand when I get a little sweaty. They're both fantastic phones. It really does down into preference on which one to get. The two blow the rest of the market away.

for the fall. There is the Note 4 coming out which is a VERY large phone, if you like big phatblet like phones.

The only other phone of I've heard of that might be interesting is the MOTO x+1 if the has a 5"+ screen and in 1080p that might be interesting.

If ones of those two don't interest you then you got a 5-6 months before something comes out to trigger buyers remorse :p
So is the G3. Based on the leaks of the N4, it also has thinny bezels (believe when I see it). The N3 in comparison is larger, but not much.

Due to the display design and Anandtech tests of the S5 805, the new Qhd amoled tech and 805 result in better battery life and performance. This is in contrast to the article bot link someone posted about the S5 805 a few weeks ago.

The G3 is easier to manage with one hand, but not by much compared to the Note 3.

Both are phablets since not true one handers. Unless Michael Jordon who palms a basketball like I do a softball.

I disagree about managing g3 vs. Note 3. G3 is significantly easier to handle, IMO. Whenever I hold the G3,as compared to the Note 3 (which is my daily driver), there isn't a time I haven't instantly felt the difference. I don't have the biggest hands, but can easily manage the g3 with 1 hand. With both the Note 2 and 3, I had to learn how to manage them.

Then you perhaps have smaller hands than me. Everything is relative :)

They both are phablets to me. The funny thing is I notice more women with Notes than men. Perhaps since they have purses to put them in?

Thing is, if you look at the dimensions of the g3, it's smaller than the Sony z2. Same height as the m8. Very close in width to the s5. I wouldn't classify any of those as phablets, but by your determination, all of those would be because of physical size.

I believe LG caught the competition by surprise being able to fit a 5.5 inch screen in such a small and comfortable package. A design feat that won't be matched until next year. Maybe! The difference in handling compared to the Note 3 is huge. This Will probably be the case for the Note 4, new iphone, or any of the rumored phones coming out. LG nailed it. The overall package of the G3 just can't be beat right now. The king of smartphones!

This and other agreed reasons is why I constantly whine about the G3 not being 1080p. IMO, it would have been the best device released to date- period. Even the professional reviews that actually did thorough tests also lament (artful word for whine) the "what if".

I just do not like or want the compromises made to get the Qhd display in the device, but 100% appreciate why most are fine with it.

I simply could not agree more, if the LG G3 had been released with a 1080p display I do believe it'd be widely hailed as the best Android to date. Battery life would be even better, the display itself would be ideal, and It'd be a win / win for everyone involved.

Agreed, the performance, battery and heat hit is just not worth the QHD display. I get the feeling LG went to early to try and outdo the rest but in doing so have made a great looking phone with performance issues.

I concur.

The pressure that component designers, vendors and handset manufacturers are under is hard to fathom in the hyper competitive environment circa 2014. Constantly working to outdo their peers we see the downside in the G3.

Between those who must have the latest bleeding edge features and the manufactures that build it, we the sensible consumer are hamstrung with no truly effective way to avoid the compromised phone other than not buy one. Not always a choice we like.

LG G3 vs LG G3 Cat.6: LG G3 vs LG G3 Cat.6 - YouTube

QHD vs 1080p is probably something we won't see unless they release an identical unit with the lower res screen. I do find it interesting that performance and battery life with the 805 processor isn't much improved at all. Granted this is a Korean vs US version so it's not a true like for like comparison. But I sure don't see any real world advantage with the 805. Probably because the 805 is just a small iteration versus a big improvement. The 805 is the last in this current generation of chipsets. Maybe we should start talking about the 810? Haha!

Apps aren't optimized for the 805 yet. The Cat 6 is still on the original software, theres been no updates for it yet so there will be big improvements when that happens. If you look at Erica Griffins S5 prime 805 Vs G3 801 there is big differences in frame rate drops when playing games.

Anandtech recent benchmarks testing the S5 Qhd with the 805 shows battery life and performance on average, par with 1080p. There were some older bot article references before from a site linked in this forum saying otherwise, but I will trust Anandtech since have yet to cause me not to.

Summary from Anantech:

1. In spite of still being 28nm, the GPU and hardware changes result in surprising improvements to both battery life and performance.

2. The new 20nm modem (was 28nm) also results in battery life improvements and is designed for the 805.
