Cant Call Mom?

I have a weird problem with my phone. I have all my contacts on my phone and never have any problems. When sending a text and you type in the contacts name it usually shows up as you are typing it in. Same with if you are making a phone call. All of my contacts do this except for my mom's. "Dad" works as does everything else.
I have tried everything to fix this problem, switched phones (other unrelated issues), rooted/unrooted, deleted the contact from both gmail and my phone then re added it. I had two numbers for her and i deleted one of them. I changed her name from "mom" to her actual name. I changed her groups and everything. But it still forces me to type in her actual number. Its not THAT big of a deal but its still really really annoying. Any idea how to fix this problem?

Edit: Sorry if this post doesn't make any sense but its kinda hard to explain.

You might have too many apps, contacts etc on your phone that start with MOM. That would confuse the fast autocomplete function in the search box and it might not bother listing all of the matches it found.

In order to get better control over file lists and things like that, we used to put the '_' character in front of text so that they would show up first in the directory trees. That will not happen in your contacts because # is before _ so all of the #MIN and other numbers would show up first. That isn't what you wanted, but if you made !mom, _mom or something like that, it should work. The reason that "mom" doesn't in your case is because it is trying to help you, but it is saying "Help me help you" (but with less bad acting.)

And it's almost Mother's Day!?! I only have 45 contacts. It gives me everything except her contact. When ever I type in "Mom" it just gives me the numbers as they would appear on a standard phone. Which would be (666)

EDIT: I put in FirstName LastName and then her cell number as a "work" number and it works? I am alright with that I guess?

Only two things jump into my head...

1) Her number is listed as home, work, etc versus mobile - this would cause the number not to show up when your are texting.

2) Her number is merged or joined with another contact. When you are searching through your contacts, is your mother showing up in the contact list?

yeah actually if i type in the number and hit enter it will show what ever i had her contact name set too. It just doesn't (for lack of a better term) quick find her number. I have to actually type in the numbers instead of her name. But then her name shows up after I have entered all the numbers.

Checked both. I had it set as a home number but this would also do it when i tried to type it in to call her.
2. Originally thought this was the problem but I checked and double checked and it isn't merged with any other contact and she does show up in the contact list.

I had this problem with some of my contacts as well. If you want to be able to text the number, it has to be selected as her mobile number in order to come up as a contact prompt when texting. I did this for the few contacts that weren't working (they were entered as "home" numbers) and the problem was solved. Good luck.

I had the exact same problem. Started a couple months ago. Mom didnt show up on my contacts, but if I called her, it would show up as mom under recent calls. Also, if I started to type mom in the recipients spot, it would come up as mom. And not that it has anything to do with it, but my mom passed away last month.

I started losing more and more contacts until I used wave secure and used the backup feature. I got them all back, but ironically, I don't need the mom contact anymore.
